Three Houses is amazing! I hoping to own it but I'm obsessed with all the characters. I have to say it's the first Fire Emblem game that has really gotten to me.

Yeah. I mean, Fates isn't terrible, but the characters just...aren't that fun to me? They like, have one or two main defining traits and that's pretty much all what their character comes down to. Meanwhile, in Awakening (and hopefully the Three Houses), the characters had those main traits, but in the supports and things you'd find out more of the character beyond just those traits. Like, we learned more about Gaius besides him being obsessed with candy, and we learned more about Lon'qu besides him being mortally afraid of women.
