Lovely expression- Al (?) has this kind of angry-like face, shouting, at a confused and worried Anya.

Yeah. I can imagine Alphonse asking Anya if she trusts him and that would look at him stunned

Anya looked at the piece of metal Alphonse brought over. "...It's a piece of junk, Alphonse..."
Alphonse took a defensive step forwards. "No, you have to trust me, Anya," he said. "It... it's important!"
"It has no value! There's nothing to show where's what and what's when!"
"Anya... just-"
"Alphonse!" Anya cried. "There's no time to joke!"
Alphonse's soft voice shocked Anya, his statement startling. "-trust me..."
Staring at Anya's wide eyes, he said once more, "Anya... Do you trust me?"

Omg that was awesome.
I'm gonna continue it.
Anya closed her eyes "I want to trust you.... I just don't know if I can." she whispered. she clenched her fists as she looked down on the ground.
"Well, I think you already are," he said to her softly. That man always surprised her. at one moment he could object his lungs out and the next he spoke with such softness.
She lifter her head and looked at him. His smile was soft and warm and so were his dark brown eyes.Β
"and you want me to prove it to you then take this" he handed her the scrap of metal. "truth is what thy heart desires the most isn't t? I believeth this piece wilt leadeth thee to it"
she went closer to him, both of them directly looking at one another . "and I thought you didn't like shakesphere". she tried to tease.Β
he shrugged. "force of habit".Β

Compared to yours, mine is really dramatic. Sorry for not knowing your characters well enough.
Anya fingered the metal. Her mind flew back to the crime scene- a retired professor's library. It has to be someone with access to the house, Anya thought, but a broken window in the scene disproved it all.
Alphonse smiled and placed the metal on the table, seeming more like a raw gem than a hunk of metal. Or maybe it was?
Anya eyed it with curiosity. "If you need to concentrate..." Alphonse muttered.
He turned to leave, but his foot caught the table's leg, accidentally tripping, and Alphonse grabbing the table for support, the metal swaying. "I'm... I'm sorry!"
Instead, Anya smiled, eyes flickering over to Alphonse. "Alphonse, you're a genius!"
Alphonse sheepishly shrugged. "H-hey, I'm sorry, you don't have to be sarcastic."
"No... really. Everything... Everything just fell into place!" Anya cried, and when Alphonse stared at her, she waved her hands towards the table. "Literally."
"I'm afraid I don't get it..."
"In the professor's library, there was an upturned ashtray on the carpet, yet we know how precious the carpet was to him... So... what if someone, or, rather, the murderer, accidentally tripped over the table as well? Spilling the ashtray over!"
With Anya's logic connected, the case was almost as if it was solved.
"Still... the metal on the floor?"
"Alphonse... you do realise you're taking things from the crime scene?"
"Y-yea, but the police said I could."
Anya looked at him. "You're hopeless, but... considering the metal was on the floor, beside a few papers and a magnifying glass..."
"The professor died studying this?"
Alphonse did not sound impressed, but Anya nodded. "Most likely and almost certain."
"What's the difference-"
"Anyway," Anya continued. "It would actually be unlikely for this to fall under a small impact, considering... it's weight! I can't even carry it."
Alphonse nodded.
"So, if the murderer tripped, they will try to keep balance to reduce the amount of noise, right?" Anya inquired.
No answer.
"What if he or she tried to grab this metal? To gain balance?"
No answer.
"Alphonse?"
The man smiled, exposing his teeth. "Anya... Tell me... were you a murderer in the past."
"I thought I can trust you?" Anya teased.
"Yes, and... and can you trust me?"
Silence.
Alphonse took a shaky breath, reluctant for an answer, "Because I'm bringing this to the forensics..."
~End~

it's okay. You did make alphonse a little too clumsy. I think he would say something like "augh that really hurt" when he tripped before apologising and anya isn't that muchh of a teaser Β but those are just Β nitpicks. You did well

Considering the table had evidences, I guess he'll be more of himself then- haha.
Thanks.
