Description Oncorhynchus rastrosus/ "spike-toothed" salmon

14x17 - colored pencils, micron, whiteout on Mylar/acetate (Dura-Lar), ~December 2022.

Caption created using a 1940s Underwood Universal portable typewriter: "6-8ft, 400lb, 4-13 million years ago during the mid-Miocene to early Pliocene.  Like modern species, these salmon were anadromous and underwent physical changes before migrating upstream.  Specimens found along the Pacific coastline.  Formerly described as Smilodonichthys rastrosus, "saber-toothed" salmon."
