Description A character of mine from one of the Star Wars table top RPG campaigns I've played. Inspired by, and named after, Kiyone Makibi from the Tenchi Muyo anime, but with a pregame history cobbled together from several character background tables from various other games.

A near human woman (her hair color is natural) from a world on the near edge of the Outer Rim, Kiyone grew up as a street rat prowling in and around the star port. Kiyone is mainly self educated, mostly from a desire to escape the bleak prospects of the future she saw if she remained uneducated, being one of two latch-key daughters of a single mother working as a stripper at a local cantina who couldn't afford to do much more than simply feed and shelter them. Neither Kiyone, nor her younger sister, Terrion, even owned any clothing until they were old enough to start earning their own money by running errands for tips.

Kiyone spent most of her meager income bribing transient spacers to give her whatever lessons in reading, mathematics, how to barter, blaster use and safety, astrogation, or whatever else they were willing to teach her. She eventually ended up with the equivalent of a decent, if patchwork, education by her late teens, when she started asking around for a position on one of the many tramp freighters that passed though the star port. Unfortunately, nobody seemed to be willing to hire on a barely dressed teen with questionable skills, so she ended up taking a job as a casino hostess.

Kiyone's luck turned around when Quinn Zev, a renegade former Imperial Pilot (turned pirate by misfortune) came into her life. Seeing that Quinn had been on a winning streak, Kiyone had been tasked to act as arm candy for this most fortunate patron so as to encourage him to stay and spend his winnings (as Quinn was mainly playing Sabbok against other patrons, the House hadn't lost much money to him directly, and wanted him to stay longer rather than kick him out). As the night grew longer, the stakes rose higher and higher until Quinn had a rather noticeable fortune in tokens sitting on the table in front of him, at which point he cashed out and tried to leave the casino.

Kiyone, having been tipped so generously by Quinn that she could afford to pay her own way off world and live quite comfortably for a while, turned in her resignation and joined Quinn as he was leaving, intending to thank him before heading off on her own. Unfortunately, several formerly wealthy individuals, now poor from having bet against Quinn Zev, decided to attempt to convince Mister Zev to provide what they considered to be fair compensation for their misfortune. Which is to say, they started a massive running firefight as they chased him and Kiyone back to his ship.

Once safely in hyperspace, Quinn was fairly impressed by Kiyone's aggressive resourcefulness, as she had started out at the casino with nothing but her credit voucher and a hostess costume that was barely there, and had ended up tagging along on his ship, having somehow acquired two blaster pistols, a blaster carbine, a utility belt with tools and a first-aid kit, and enough pieces of armor to form a hodge-podge suit, all taken while on the run, from various opponents and bystanders. All of which she has astonishingly managed to put on while at a dead run. Quite frankly, he thought that she looked adorably ridiculous in her makeshift outfit, and he offered her a position as his sidekick. Which was soon upgraded to partner and copilot when he found out that she had the skills to do so.

outstanding in a casino, but horrific when it came to trying to leave a planet. Generally, it fell to Kiyone to pilot their original ship and hook up with Quinn later on an isolated backwater world, where they would loot the cargo, strip the new ship of valuable parts, and turn what was left into another makeshift part of the shanty town that was fast becoming the party's pirate base.

Eventually, rebel opperatives representing General Krakken managed to contact Quinn Zev and offer him a Letter of Marque. Quinn, pretty much resigned to being an accidental "Scourge of the Empire" by this point agreed, and he and Kiyone became rebel privateers. Quinn's horrific luck trying to leave planets continued to plague him for a while, leading the group to somewhat specialize in infiltration and shipjacking as Quinn seldom had problems getting around until the party tried to actually leave a system. Gradually, Quinn's strange luck shifted, and he started being able to be able to actually bluff his way past Imperial Agents as he was leaving WITHOUT setting off their suspicions and causing them to check his face against their wanted records.

Most of the time, anyway (By this time, Quinn Zev had been declared to be legally dead twice by the Empire, and the group started joking that he was the reason Darth Vader insisted on his "No Disintegrations" policy with bounty hunters).

Having formed a solid working relationship with the rebels by supplying several cells with regular drops of weapons, supplies, small ships, and the agreed upon cut of the loot we had claimed, General Krakken's agent soon approached the party with a new offer of becoming  special operatives for the Rebel Alliance, working under his chain of command. We agreed, and were soon given our first mission:

Since several party members had direct experience as former members of the Imperial Navy (two former pilots and a logistics officer), we were tasked with infiltrating an Imperial base in order to sabotage the prototype fighter supposedly designed to be superior to the rebel X-Wing Fighter. After a small amount of training to get the rest of the party familiar with their roles, the party infiltrated the base.

And then frustrated the Game Master by spending the next in game month mostly doing nothing but actually performing our 'jobs' and picking up what we felt were important skills. One party member, a bounty hunter, had unfortunately gained Imperial attention, but as he had no record and a plausible reason to be there, he was largely left alone other than now being tailed by an Imperial Agent watching his every move. Which the rest of the party managed to notice before contacting him again, so we immediately pretended that we had no idea who he was and just went about our business. Which was the only noticeable hitch in our operation, and even that worked out in our favor as he spent the rest of the mission simply doing what he claimed to be there for in the first place while being under heavy observation, granting him an airtight alibi once the actual sabotage took place, allowing him to leave the system unmolested.

Kiyone, under the guise of one of the mechanics, was the one to perform the actual sabotage, right under the eyes of a lazy crew chief, a singularly obnoxious junior officer by the name of Davin Assok, who outright signed off on the work as being his own, expecting the newbie to be unable to do anything about it. Instead, Kiyone took the opportunity to clean off the tools she had used to perform the coupling and slip them into Assok's, toolbox as she went off shift. Kiyone was questioned briefly during the resulting investigation as part of the work crew on duty at during the period when the sabotage was suspected of taking place, but given that her fellow crewmembers had nothing but respect for her work ethic and abilities, and everyone's supporting complaints about the Assok's behavior, full blame for the sabotage fell solely on the head of Imperial Lieutenant Davin Assok, who was then tried and executed as a rebel spy.

Meanwhile, much to the astonishment of both players and game master alike, the entire party managed to escape further notice and leave during the next crew rotation a full in game month after the base lockdown was lifted, securing our reputation as elite field operatives in the rebellion!

After a while, the party decided to start a side business using some of the money Quinn Zev had managed to accumulate and distribute to the rest of us. Several of us bought one or more small to medium sized freighters and couriers of various types, formed a minor shipping company, and hired the personnel we needed to man the office and crew the ships while we continued to perform missions for the rebellion. By general consensus, most of the company was handled as a strictly legitimate entity, with only two of the ships ever being used as cover for rebel operations. Both of which being directly owned by Kiyone: the Yagami - a modified HT-2200 medium freighter occasionally used as a discrete mini-carrier for small fighters, and the Minagi - a modified YT-1300 light freighter assigned as a company courier when we weren't using is as a small mobile operating base for our rebel cell.

Two of the party's members became so notorious for being declared dead on multiple occasions that reports of their deaths are now automatically dismissed as "inconclusive," no matter what witnesses and visual records claim. Both of whom (one of which being Quinn Zev, and the other being a wookie by the name of Orguuga) are the main reason the party started buying bacta tanks and having them equipped on every ship owned we owned.

Quinn's player is especially proud of the name and slogan he came up with for our shipping company: "Nodam Way - We'll Ship It!"

Kiyone is shown here wearing one of her more modest outfits. Modest for her anyway.

Okay as I read your parts regarding Zev for some strange reason I just kept thinking of Cyrano Jones and Harcourt Fenton Mudd from Star Trek.

Love the backstory though will look at your other entries.
