Chaos at the Heart of OrionNASA's Spitzer and Hubble Space Telescopes teamed up to expose the chaos that baby stars are creating 1,500 light years away in a cosmic cloud called the Orion nebula. This striking composite indicates that four monstrously massive stars, collectively called the "Trapezium," at the center of the cloud may be the main culprits in the Orion constellation, a familiar sight in the fall and winter night sky in the northern hemisphere. Their community can be identified as the yellow smudge near the center of the image.

Swirls of green in Hubble's ultraviolet and visible-light view reveal hydrogen and sulfur gas that have been heated and ionized by intense ultraviolet radiation from the Trapezium's stars. Meanwhile, Spitzer's infrared view exposes carbon-rich molecules called polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in the cloud. These organic molecules have been illuminated by the Trapezium's stars, and are shown in the composite as wisps of red and orange. On Earth, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons are found on burnt toast and in automobile exhaust.

Stellar winds from clusters of newborn stars scattered throughout the cloud etched all of the well-defined ridges and cavities in Orion. The large cavity near the right of the image was most likely carved by winds from the Trapezium's stars. Located 1,500 light-years away from Earth, the Orion nebula is the brightest spot in the sword of the Orion, or the "Hunter" constellation. The cosmic cloud is also our closest massive star-formation factory, and astronomers believe it contains more than 1,000 young stars.

I love the overall imagery that you have captured. There are a couple of elements that don't sit perfectly with me when I view this but when I explain them in depth they may be fulfilling the purpose that you wanted them to.

The background is absolutely stunning. The overall chaos of the image definitely conveys a dream.

My initial view of this had me looking closer to try and decipher it, this is one of the aspects that feels a little off. The part that feels off is that many viewers will have to work a fair amount just to get a basic idea as to what they are seeing. The part about this that does work for me is that the confusion will cause most viewers to look more closely to try and discern some understanding.

This next bit may just solely be my personal opinion but I'm a little torn on some of the harsh contrasts. The moon in the nebula by itself isn't harsh but the overlay with your face is rather abrupt. A similar issue with the vinyl coat. As I stated early the stark differences may have been your intention but personally I feel with the subtlety of everything else in the image it may feel a little more dream like if your image was softer, to me the contrast feels like reality violently forcing its way into this dreamlike state.

If I've come across as passive aggressive that was not my intention. Overall I really do enjoy the image.

I don't know about when you dream, but when I do, things are very defined. The Harsh contrasts are to represent the feelings I think I feel and the feelings I actually feel.

All becomes clearer in the light of the moon, for that is when the demon's show their faces. I lace myself in chaos, but it's the blinding light of my soul that shuts out the darkness, combating the hate.

The shiny leather of the outfit to me, reminded me of being covered in oil, having it slide up me from the ground to my chest, ready to devour me, flesh and all.

Your dreams sound far more vivid and intense than mine. The beauty of art is that no two people see the same thing.
