Description
LUCIANO
(p. loo chee on no)
OVERALL RATING: 8.5/10
Based on what we have, desire, our goals and experience,
Luciano is a Very Good breeding prospect. We are carefully
weighing complementary future breedings.
Large bone for his moderate overall size.
Big head, correct axes, well-developed cheek, long snout.
Good length of neck, moderately angled scapulohumeral joint.
More than enough rear angulation and tight feet.
Long and continuous topline all the way to tail tip.
Lots of lip/depth of muzzle. Drooler. Slightly tipped pelvis.
A slightly round/large eye.
No major faults!

FAMILY HISTORY
Luciano was bred by Bernardi (province of Pesaro), whose family/self has been breeding working CC for decades and more recently has used a few more showy lines. His sire does farm/personal protection work, is approximately 110 pounds (very lean when I saw him - prob more like 120-125 at best) at 2 years, black coat, and fiery attitude. His dam is a bit bigger, grey, who is used as an in-home guardian, which speaks of both a stable temperament and intact defense drive, especially to live in the home of working Corso experts.
MORE INFORMATION
Luciano is vocal. Low prey drive. Stable but intense. Not easily provoked but is reserved (doesn't seek attention from strangers and most people/animals). Doesn't react poorly to horses, cows, vehicles, loud noises. Haaaates the vet (needs to be muzzled just in case). Offensive within a vehicle (working on it, though is always crated anyway). Can play with smaller females of different breeds easily. Never put with other adult males just in case.
He's different to my other current males in a few ways that I hope will be passed into my females:
- Big bone but not a huge dog
- Really beautiful rear legs - good turn to the stifle, knee placement, first/second thigh, sound feet, no cowhocks.
- Honestly starting from behind the armpit, he is nearly perfect apart from a slightly high tailset.
- Beautiful long topline which will bring some smoothness into the gaits.
- Back to moderately angled front angulation which is correct for the breed.
- Flat backskull, "moderately" converging axes with that ever so slight Presa-esque Corso head (iykyk).
Only faults would be:
- Front carpals just a tad turned out.
- Really big feet, almost Neo-esque.
- Too much extra skin around neck and big dewlap.
- Eyes could be more almond shaped.
