definitely one of your best works theres so much detail its amazing and that monster looks practically awesome. I really love how you drew a gaping mouth on him.

I wonder if that girl standing on the right wall is using a big enough attack for that monster those fireballs shes casting look like they wouldn't even make that thing flinch.

One can see you put alot of effort into this piece. Mostly from the cool water/slimey effects on the monster.
YouΒ΄re a very good composer.

This is great! You nailed it perfectly!
Is that a huge "Tendriculos" and "Magic Missile" spell I spy?
You captured enough of the detailed complexity of your subject
to satisfy the pickiest D&D geek, and that says a lot!
I wonder, are you depicting this scene from experience with the
game, or from instructions your client gave you?
Either way, I'd just like to compliment you on your hard work and
talent, you are a great illustrator Reiq!

A tip for D&D geeks: "Enlarge Person" is a great first level spell
that helps a lot when something is grappling you into it's maw.

Forsaken2544 In reply to Juisifer [2006-09-09 03:09:53 +0000 UTC]

Yay! Someone who knew it was a Tendriculos as opposed to an otyugh.

Reiq has been doing quite a bit of fantasy inspired art. lately. I am enjoying it immensely, because they are great dynamic scenes.

The artwork boggles the mind, and this piece is another in a long line of favorites.

Amen! Anybody who plays dnd knows about the tendriculos for one reason and one reason alone. It has the honor of sharing the opposite page with Mr. TPK himself, the Tarrasque in the MM. Reiq, you did a super job on that scene. I was once crammed into the gullet of a hungry tendriculos just as that poor sap in the picture is about to be. Its artwork like this that makes me glad I gave a deviant art account!

Forsaken2544 In reply to Mr-Mushrooms [2007-12-15 20:06:39 +0000 UTC]

Strangely enough, the Tendriculos has been responsible for it's own share of TPK's it's kinda sad, really.

Hiho Reiq! How are you?

Great piece of art, I also love to create new environments such as old ruins... also, great character posings!

Now for a constructive criticism, I donΒ΄t know if someone already said but, here goes...

I find this colouring technique impressive, it has all contrast and power necessary to surround a near character.
But just that, Reiq, a NEAR character.
Hmm, how can I explain... if you notice, you are using the same skills to colour your characters on a closed pinup but this shouldnΒ΄t apply for a farthest angle, such as scenary or small details. Maybe blurring it a bit, not showing all reflexive details, but just pretending a coloured blur here and there, see?
IΒ΄m sure youΒ΄ll understand my opinion and use it for good pourposes, because colours are experience!

I hope this helps!
Until later!

reiq In reply to maumanga [2006-09-04 22:44:36 +0000 UTC]

yeap i know about that. it should be better to leave the character representaded by a few brush strokes, but the client wants the image to be detailed enough to see the characters clothes and equipment. that's why it's like that. Remember that he'll get a High resolution Image and the zoom tool must be friendly enough to let the client see more details than the web resolution image. XD but hey! thanks for letting me know that!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

maumanga In reply to reiq [2006-09-05 11:11:58 +0000 UTC]

I see!
The image is indeed very good and detailed, that is why I came to comment, hih! But what I meant to say about the colours on afar were lying on the background! XD
The ruins and landscape, with more blurred areas and less details, Reiq.

Until next time! ^.^
