okay, that's so realistic i'm starting to think you're cheating. where do you hide the magic wand?!
when I use darker pencils the drawings tend to turn out shiny... maybe it's just my scanner.

no cheating... although i guess if people suspect cheating that's kind of a compliment - more for my skills, though, and not so much for my character
yeah... dark pencils get shiny on me too. ya just have to be careful about finding the right light to photograph it in. a strong steady sort of ambient light is usually best. and the angle your picture is at has to be just right too. i wish they just made unshiny graphite.

I like charcoal but it's just too messy for me... and expensive.
so you PHOTOGRAPH all of your pictures? wow. I wouldn't have the patience. throw it in the scanner and go! if the scanner doesn't work, screw it all.

charcoal is just, too, uh, oh... crumbly or somethin'. can't get much variation in value and details are hard... and mixing it with graphite means ya got shiny and matte all goin' at once.
oh - it's not that hard to photograph my pictures. i usually just sit the painting (or drawing) on a chair, put my camera on a tripod and push the button. besides... i can't get most of my work on the scanner - too big.

I had a design class last year (worst mistake i've ever made) where all we ever used was charcoal.... every day was black smudgy HELL.

i drew it. it' graphite. some of the graphite is 2HB, 3B, and 6B pencils... but i don't think that counts as mixed media
