Such a cute puppy! (Lol, I call all dogs puppies.) I really like the colors in this. You did a good job creating a sense of unity by keeping everything on the warm side (including the blue). This dog looks so snuggly plush! And what a cute expression!

If you're interested in learning more, try searching Google for sites on color theory and color harmony. There is a lot of information concerning the topic, and even quite a bit of controversy (at least when it comes to painting with real life pigments). I wish I could share a link with you, but I couldn't find any one site that included all the tricks I know about color. :/

I usually just try to reference real pictures pick up the colors from there. I will try to find some sites though I know there are a couple tutorials on here also that may help.

Referencing real pictures can be very useful, depending on how awesome the colors of the photo are. Clever idea. ^_^
