This one was a bit rushed,, partly because I always feel the need to make things go as quick as possible while I'm recording
I still need to somehow get rid of that reflex.... it's less strong when I have a better idea of what am doing and what effect it'll make once finished :I

so yeah, ignore the twitching/pulsating forest,, I was just trying stuff out

how do you upload gifs

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Remarin In reply to Go-away-Stupidretard [2018-08-14 09:34:21 +0000 UTC]

Type "how to upload gifs to deviantart" into google and you'll find your answer ;>

but really, it's nearly the same as uploading normal image files, it's just that you need to have 1 extra file for the preview thumbnail image. You can save a still frame from the gif as preview image, or resize the gif to max 150 pixels big if you want to preview to also be animated.

To resize your gifs you can go to sites like gifmaker.org/ if you can't do it in your program

With what program do you animate?

If you check the video link in the description I actually show how I did it and mention the programs in the video description as well ;>
This was started in FireAlpaca, and finished in Photoshop
Nowadays though, I use Krita since its animation feature isn't as limited
(both firealpaca and Krita are free btw)

I actually kind of like the shake, it looks like it's some force of nature shaking the ground beneath it and adds more "oomph" to the impact O.o

Sorry if this has been asked before but what program are you using for this?

Remarin In reply to theunspokenprophet [2017-07-07 07:31:05 +0000 UTC]

I used FireAlpaca for the sketching part, and Photoshop for the coloring + background stuff :> Later I simply saved as a PSD and converted it into an animated Gif using a gif maker website

you can also make it a gif from PS though!

Remarin In reply to saaros [2017-08-18 22:35:28 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, but I'm using an old version of Photoshop (Elements.10), for which the file has to be of a miniscule size for that feature to be available. Even the smallest of animations were to much data for my program to handle :I

This will probably sound stupid, but how do you do simple backgrounds like that? I've always had trouble with them.
This looks really good!

Remarin In reply to ZashaDraws [2017-07-06 18:04:51 +0000 UTC]

You can watch the process of the background from 1:24 on o: Probably the most important part to make it look good is the color edits after the actual drawing. At 1:43 the base is basically done, and looks real "bleh" because I didn't care too much about the colors just yet, since I knew I can cover that up with some repeated gradients put to multiply/overlay/etc

Using textured brushes helps, and you might want to imagine that you're drawing your background with something like a sponge (don't switch around too much between brushes, or brush sizes if you want to keep it simple)
And imagine that you want to draw an out-of-focus photo of a landscape,, leaves will become blobs, grass are smudges or maybe messy doodles.
It's basically a sketch in form of a digital painting,, and I probably also need to mention; I had some reeaal troubles learning how to "sketch" digital paintings,, at the beginning my transition was basically "blocks of color->maximum detail", instead of something like "blocks of color->shapes with more shapes inside them->cleaner shapes with suggested details->detailed painting"

So if you can't avoid spending way too much time into your background to make it look somewhat acceptable,, then don't worry you'll slowly get familiar with your way of drawing and find shortcuts or ways to simplify your stuff

I was so focused on the animation itself I didn't even notice the background until it was done ;-;
Thank you so much! I think this will really help me!! :}
