I used photoshop! If the file is small enough you can convert the layers you use as frames into a moving gif. format. Otherwise you can save the file as a PSD. or PDF and upload it onto websites who will convert them for you (search for sites with names like "gif maker" or "gif creator"

Well it can be multiple things: what size is your canvas? (I usually do my paintings at 4000 pixels wide, the animtations obviously don't need to be that large) And what is the "resolution" you're using? (pixels per inch) I usually put the resolution at 300. Or what brush are you using?

oh mine are usually about 900x900 I didn't do anything with the resolution its just the regular default brush

It's most probably the resolution? I've seen most professional artists, who have made videos and such about how to do digital art and so on, use 300 pixels per inch :I For the longest time, I didn't know what it did but I guess it possibly adds to the quality or crispness of images?

Very smooth!
Have you Β ever thought about using Adobe Flash to animate? It's much easier than in photoshop c:

Yeah I intended to look for a proper animation program after I've tried around a little,, I'll probably download Flash or something similar as soon as I've got an afternoon to explore the program properly :>

The tweens in flash will save your life, and try to look for a version of Flash that has the bone tool. It basically makes things behave like they have actual joints and stuff.
I can't wait to see what you'll come up with c:

very cool
might i suggest more.. bopping [i.e. move the relative position of the head to the neck, so when he opens the mouth it goes up a bit, and down when it clsoes, currently it largely has the same angle, it's pretty much the only thing lacking, which would make it more dynamic/realsitic]

Thanks for the advice!! I'll try focusing on the head position next time!! c:

what program did you use? i wanna try doing some simple animations too

I used photoshop, drew each frame on a different layer and saved the file as a Gif,, but for the previous one I simply searched for a free animation program to try out and downloaded the first I found ( "pencil" ) You can also just draw each frame, save them and upload the picture to an online gif-maker site, (if you dont have photoshop) or if you have similar troubles like me, for example I found out my photoshop can't handle more than ~20 frames to make an animation, so I had to split the animation into 2 gifs, and merge them via a gif-maker site (I specifically used "gifcreator.me" and it was really easy to use,,, if you upload gif-files, the site will automatically break down the animation in it's seperate frames and you can manually dublicate, delete or speedup each individual frame)
(to save an animated gif on photoshop, you gotta go to "save for web and devices",, if you have a different program you can always ask google nwn/)

Oh don't worry, I'm pretty sure the proportions got quite messed up along the way owo'' I still got to figure out how to keep track on sizes and placement while drawing each frame..
Β For this one I was using photoshop and simply did each frame on a different layer and saved it as an animated gif. For the eye-animation I did just before this one, I quickly downloaded "pencil" ((I google searched 'free animation program')) and I think it would probably be best to invest in a proper animation program,, cause working with layers was quite a hassle...
But really, to start off, the only thing you need is a drawing program and internet connection! There are sites that can convert singular pictures into gifs! ("gif maker" "gif creator", etc) you'd only have to save each frame as a picture...
