Description Introducing Dolly! Our rescued Pittie mix. Shes a ham. She loves people and kids, in fact shes amazing with our 6 month old son.

People think that Pit Bulls can't be rescued because you don't know their history... Well, heres some history for you... The American Pit Bull Terrier was bred in the 1800s as a bull baiting dog. When this ruthless sport developed by humans, was outlawed for its cruelty, well, as the bunch of jerks we are, we created another ruthless sport: dog fighting, and the APBT excelled at it. Infact, they were so adept at it that we continued to breed them specifically for it creating fighting lines. Sounds scary right? Well, heres some food for thought, the handlers of these dogs had to be able to reach in amidst a fight to pull their dogs apart, they had to be right there in the frenzy and if ever they were bitten their dogs were generally culled... Human aggression was culled out of the breed.

So why now are we seeing these dogs slandered all over the news? BECAUSE IT SELLS. Any muscular dog with a tendancy towards human aggression will be labeled by the media as a Pit Bull. In all honesty, there are arguably 13 or more breeds that fall under the "Pit Bull" name and to be really anal, there is NO Pit Bull breed. The full name is the American Pit Bull Terrier. Not Pitt Bull, not PitBull, not Pibble, APBT.

I could go on about this forever, but considering the fact that more Dolly pictures are bound to pop up in the near future, I'll continue my ramblings next time

Stay educated people and adopt adopt adopt!!!!

Exactly, Pittbulls are beautiful, loving dogs. My niece has a heart condition and her therapy dog is an Stafford-shire Terrier. He is a blue pitt and is so loving and devoted to her. When she starts to stress her heart he will literally sit on her to make her rest and relax.

Our family will often find her in the playground parked on the ground with him stretched across her lap because he will refuse to let her move until her heart rate decreases. He just lays his head on her shoulder and waits until it is safe before he lets her up. It is so loving and sweet, not to mention funny.

We named him Dean, pronounced as in Guardian, because that is what he is.

I only saw this now. That's a very heart touching story.  I will forever be in awe of the Pit Bull breed. We're starting to slowly hear about the breed specific legislation being abolished in certain places, we can only hope that it continues so that more people can come to understand, and maybe even love the breed.

Your pitt bull is really lovely.
I don't understand the stigma that many people have towards them...

Thank you very much. People look for something to fear and the media sells it making the truth hard to identify and the rumors spread like wild fire.

Thank you for your kind words about Dolly. I always love hearing about people and their pitties! I have been around them since I was about 10 years old and I have yet to find a more loving and forgiving breed. Once you share your home with a Pittie, it is hard to imagine keeping any other breed. I hope that for your next one in the future you will consider adopting because there really is no greater feeling than knowing that you saved a dogs life

My dog is a Staffie cross Pittie and she's the soppiest thing in the world. She's still only a baby yet - only six months old - so she's still very hyper but I'll be damned if you could find me a more charismatic and loving dog. She's beautiful, sweeter than chocolate and the best pup I've ever known. We had the pick of the litter for my 18th birthday and even though she was shy at first, she's made such an impression on my life and my Nan's that we can't be without her now. She's getting big but she's staying awesome

It's the owners that make crappy dogs. Crappy dogs are simply not crappy by nature. I saw a fantastic captioned picture of a Pittie licking a little girl's face saying 'Sorry my pitt bull licked your face instead of bite it off'. It's so true. They are loyal, loving dogs and are brilliant with kids...not to mention the fact my Skylar will refuse point blank to leave my Nan when I take her for a walk Loyal as hell. She annoys our old cat but never hurts him.

Also, your dog is gorgeous <3 APBT FTW!!
