It's a her.

The suit is the same as mine, though colored orange. I shouldn't be surprised, the world made billions of these suits before the world's atmosphere turned to poison. All the same, made for us to survive after what they all knew was coming.

Before my time.

My heart feels like it is going to jump out of my chest. All I can hear is its pounding in my eardrums. My muscles are so tense they hurt. After all this time I can feel my skin tingling. Just being this close to someone. The last people I knew were my parents.

And they are gone.

But she has a gun. She could be a threat. Sick. A looter. Or worse.

"Never trust anyone," my parents used to say, "never."

There could be others around here with her. A thought which blows my mind and scares the hell out of me all at the same time.
