This thing has been sitting in my list of things to get done for awhile now. It didn't come out as well or bring out improvement as much as I hoped and eventually I just dodge and burned the thing into completion because I was tired of dealing with it. Semi serious illustration of a hunter going after a deer, only for a troll who'd been chasing the same deer to finally catch up to it at the river. Much to our deer hunter's surprise. I was hoping to make this a portfolio piece but its not likely. Oh well.-RenDragonClaw

the troll makes me laugh cuz he's all awkwardly tumbling and then the hunters all like " " and the deer is running for its like
but I really like the lighting and the shadows and the shines...
I'm such an amateur I need to work on photoshop more lol

The irony is I felt like an amateur working on this. It just didn't come out as well as I thought it should. The weird part is that despite aiming to make a troll related illustration, the deer is the best and simplest part of the entire piece. Digital painting still frowns on me.

I take it the hunter got the Troll in the eye, the deer got a way, and the troll ate the hunter as it's eye regenerated. XD
Awesome little details, too. The splashes around the hooves, the fog (or dust) are both mood setting, and the big eyes on that hunter are funny as hell. The terror-white of the deers eyes get across just how goddamn scary being chased for hours by a Troll and then being shot at would be, and the bumps on the troll and the skulls in it's hair look awesome. All very cool, Ren.

If you look really close you'll notice that the mark around the troll's eye is in the shape of a hoof. So basically the troll almost caught the deer, got kicked in the face, has been running it down in a fit of rage for most of the evening. Deer tried to get a break near the river, hunter tried to bag him, Troll bursts out of the brush livid as hell and hunter proceeds to panic while Deer desperately tries to bound out of reach.

Trolls in Monster Hunter would be freaking insane. I mean we got Congala's but freaking Trolls...good thing they dont have christens in MH. Trolls can smell them lol.

I wonder if we'd be able to make troll armor. I can imagine it would have the "Trolling" skill, makes monsters rage faster.

It would also have the 'Repulse' skill which makes the monster more likely to leave the area and increases the effect of dung bombs.

The bigger the monster the harder it general is to get it to leave. When facing multiple monsters it might be an advantage more than a disadvantage.

I just love how you can practically tell just what's going through the hunter's head as this weird scene plays out in front of him.
