Oki....Juuuust trying to explain the difference in a black human soul and black monster soul IN NLT.
Sila and Chain both have a black soul (except the white paw)

So...A monsters soul....easy... i have the white original color something like a "shell" of a black soul. The more you lose the ones you love and care about, the more this "Shell" crumbles and reveals the black soul underneath. Chain lost EVERYONE in the underground, so from the start it was black, then Fluffs came in his life and he got part of the white shell back. So it can also be restored. But never completely.

And a human black soul.....remember, it IS NOT the trait HATE in NLT. The black soul in NLT is the soul of REJECTION. And that is kinda something like the weakest soul for the one that has it. Cause it effects others that THEY automatically hate and reject the person that HAS this soul trait. Sila has this soul and is an outcast by everyone. That's why she is the only one that survived the NLT Underground. Cause no one wanted her soul. No one wanted anything to do with her.

Its not because the black soul didn't affect him, it did.... but he kinda fought the need to leave her and he helped. It doesn't mean he didn't hate her the entire time. ^^"
