For future reference, .PNG is a lossless image format, meaning that when you save/render something as a .png image, the quality will not drop. The file size will increase, however.
.JPEG/.JPG and .BMP are lossy image formats, meaning that when you save/render something as a .jpeg/.jpg or .bmp image, while the file size will remain relatively low, the quality will drop. Often significantly so.
