Artist's statement:
A male Anaconda at the New England Aquarium.

The Anaconda holds the distinction of being the second longest snake in the world, the first being the Reticulated Python.
But the Anaconda holds the record for the heavyest and the thickest snake in the world, In the wild a female can weigh over 500 pounds and grow thicker than a barrel.
A nonvenomous constrictor the Anaconda is a truly masterful rainforest predator, Hunting both in the water and on land there are few creatures safe from the wrath of a good sized one.
Unlike you and me which just stop growing once we reach sexual maturaty, a snake like the Anaconda never stops growing, so it's easyest to tell which Anaconda is the oldest, it's the biggest.

This species was also the subject of the 1997 Horror film "Anaconda" Which I saw when I was 12 and almost couldn't stop laughing at all the scientific inaccuracies.
But even so it's one of the movies with Jennifer Lopez I saw that I enjoyed,
Except for "The Cell", I liked the Cell
...
and "Jersey Girl" was ok too...
