A gorgeous piece, as always. The detail in the feathers is simply remarkable.
And kilns always vex me. Its a crapshoot whether the piece you spent 30 hours on lives or dies. And I've had more than my fair share of explosions....

Aw, and he's so beautiful. I actually cried when a huge, 10 - inch tall cat I made as a gift went in the kiln. Ugh, that one hurt.

Most of them are cast gypsum ( hard dense plaster). A couple of them are cast cement. These are cast in molds made from the original sculpture, which was made from clay.
