I have one of these dragons, bought more than 20 years ago in the UK. I still love him, though he could do with some toe repairs!Β
Thank you for sculpting some of my favourite fantastic beasts. Your work has inspired me for a long time.

Wow!Β That's wonderful! Such an honor!
Dragon toes can be easily repaired with Apoxie clay and some gold paint.
Thank you so much!

are you making an out of a specific clay product like sculpy or casting them out of resin?

I sculpted the original of this dragon out of air drying, water based clay called "critter clay". (It isΒ available from Aves studio) I did the detailing on a gypsum casting of the original, because air dry clay doesn't take fine detail well. The dragon shown here is a painted gypsum reproduction ( not resin)Β madeΒ from the finalΒ finished sculpture.

What do you use to sculpt these? Your work is so detailed. I don't think I'd have the patience to do something like this.

How do you paint it like this? Is it some special colour?

He is airbrushed with different colors of metallic acrylic paint, then hand painted in spots with a brush, and metallic marker pens.
I'm Sorry I didn't answer your question when you asked it! I somehow missed seeing it.

you know, I have the "Peacock" version of this guy. I named him Anku. Similar colors but more muted. I still love him, even though I've had him for over 10 years now!

It still is my favorite, although I was also rather fond of the pearly white color too. What I really miss is the brown Kirins. yep.
