Edit: She won her very first comp

My entry for *DaneArt 's Halloween Mini Event

Ciara was so excited. The sun was shining, the air was crisp, and she could see her breath in the air. Fall was her favorite time of year. And the Farm had decided to host its first public event since it's official opening last month. This was the perfect way to invite an audience to the Stables, and flaunt their new filly, Keira at the same time.

Although, the intention was to exhibit the horses and new facilities with amplified awareness, the holiday festivities were going to be an equally exhilarating experience on their own. As the guests arrived, they were delivered on tractor-pulled hayrides to the corn maze or pumpkin patches. From there, people could congregate near the Old Barn and partake in a variety of activities. For the families there was a small area designated for farm animals/petting zoo, with face painting, and a children's costume contest. There was a station for building-your-own-scarecrow, pumpkin carving, and bobbing for apples. And of course, the caramel fondue fountain to create caramel covered apples after the kids had successfully retrieved them from the bobbing apple tubs. And the rowdy teens, well they just loved the pumpkin cannon.

But as much fun as the pumpkins, hot cider, and fresh popped kettle corn were, the Stables had done an amazing job of ending the ending the festivities back at the main barn, where spooky decorations accentuated the fine facilities and showcased the striking horses. And taking center stage, there was their new import, Keira. The little filly was decorated as an Egyptian Princess... the perfect costume for this refined foal. With each step she took, the costume seems to sparkle and shimmer, accentuating her conformation perfectly. All eyes were on her as she danced around for the crowd. She was the center of attention, and seemed to know it.

OK, so this took me forever and I have to say I'm rather pleased with how it turned out. I am still really slow at art, but I have been working on this (in my limited free-time) since the mini-Event was first announced (yeah, I'm slow and learning my way around Photoshop still ). Originally, I was going to draw the handler, Ciara, in a matching toga/servant-girl costume, but just ran out of time.

But either way, I'm just plain excited… because no matter how she scores, this is Keira's first ever show entry. So let the HARPG'ing begin
