FFFFFFFFF OHAI THAR. eue It's been a while since I posted anything of any real merit, no? Sorry about that. I've been a bit preoccupied with work and then with packing; I'm leaving home to go off to school in about three more days, so I haven't had much time to myself lately. But here's a little something that I've been working on for a while now, and I'm glad to finally be able to present to you!

For those of you who don't know, something MAGICAL has transpired: Shinji Mikami, Director (and arguably the 'creator') of Capcom's "Resident Evil", and Akira Yamaoka, the Musician and Co-Director/Advisor for Konami's "Silent Hill" (who have both left their previous employment for their own personal reasons) have BOTH gone to work for Grasshopper Manufacture where they will be working on a brand new horror game title... TOGETHER.

No seriously, isn't this the best fucking news of all time? My favorite director, one of my favorite musicians, two men that I respect and admire very much---I-I just can't believe it! When I first heard then news I was completely stoked. I was so excited that I simply had to draw a celebratory picture, the unison of "the best of both worlds".

Here we've got Wesker, Chris, James, Pyramid Head, and the save/healing items between them, with a 'magical box of hope and wonder' directly in the center. As soon as the cover art for this new game is released, I will replace the question mark cut-out space in the middle with the official image. c:

I am so excited for this new development, I can't even explain it. I just can't wait to see where Shinji and Akira will take us! The Resident Evil franchise is dead to me. Degen was only mildly-interesting; most of the story consist of a total re-hashing of events that had already happened before, while Shoot'em Up 5: Extreme Tits Edition I mean,"Resident Evil 5" and Resident Evil: the Darkside Chronicles were absolutely gawd-awful. I mean, they were just terrible! Terribly done, terribly written. They were just in TERRIBLE taste. And I am afraid to say that the Silent Hill series is not far behind; Shattered Memories had little more to offer us than a few cheep 'scares' and the outright murder of characters I have loved for over a decade with their bloody "retelling". Some of you thought Homecomming was bad? Well just you wait for the next Silent Hill game. Rumor has it that it might well be a "re-imaging" of SILENT HILL 2.

No seriously, what? WHY? WHY? Silent Hill 2 does NOT need to be remade. It does NOT need to be "re-imagined". It does not need ANYTHING! That game is perfection in and of itself.

It is my firm belief that Survival-Horror Games [of the puzzle-solving variety] are a DYING genre. And I am not exaggerating, I am not over-analyzing. Just THINK ABOUT IT. What is the last Silent Hill or Resident Evil that honestly SCARED you? That honestly made you sit down and THINK about how to solve a puzzle? When was the last time that you became so frustratingly lost that you had to go and look up the answer on the internet only to realize that the key to what you were looking for was engraved onto the back of the necklace your character had been wearing all along, or lodged inside the bottom of a vase you'd gotten from solving yet another puzzle inside the portrait room of one dying-family's ridiculously elaborate mansion. I mean, am I the only one who remembers what that feels like? We didn't NEED high-resolution graphics, or the blatantly recycled design of Fiona Belli wearing Zero-suit Samus' outfit to keep us entertained. We didn't NEED constant mindless violence and an explosion every three-point-five seconds (all whilst shouting "BOOM HEADSHOT!" in every 'fucking n00bz' ear over our Xbox consoles) in order to help to fulfill the terrible void of gratification that once came from solving a good game through hard perseverance and maybe starting over once or twice along the way. We didn't NEED a bloody arrow over our heads to tell us where the next 'puzzle' lies, or exactly how to solve it. We didn't need a button telling us to 'press X not to die' all the way up until the very fucking END of our game. We didn't NEED some black 'pawtner' with a ridiculously huge ass & set of hooters to be thrown into our game series to quell cries of racism all under the guise of create a brand-new goddamn "love triangle" (Hey, thanks to the lovely miss ~DoubleLeggy , I have actual fucking PROOF Sheva wasn't "planned from the beginning": [link] - I have every right to hate her bitch ass). Nor did we need some horribly skanky, 'sexified' version of the original game's antagonist literally fucking our hero's brains out in a boat out in the middle of gawddamn Toluca Lake! We didn't need ANY of it!!

My dear friends, if we don't stand up and say that we are tired of the same old bullshit that the gaming industry has been cranking out for the last five or six years now, that we don't WANT to have to choose between "SPACE MARINE ARMY GUY ON TOO MUCH ROIDS KILLS ALIEN/MONSTER/THINGS NUMBER ONE" or "SPACE MARINE ARMY GUY ON TOO MUCH ROIDS KILLS ALIEN/MONSTER/THINGS NUMBER TWO" but that we want to be able to have a third option... then we will never be heard, and the masses will always get what the masses want. Don't sell out, don't be a goddamn fucking WHORE to the uncreative and unimaginative carbon copies of the world. Do we all want to remain ignorant and eat Soylent Green all of our lives, or are we, as ARTISTS, going to promote and pursue something BETTER? I hope that you are not resigned to let your 'average gamer' monopolize the industry, and just sit back and watch as anything adventurous, creative, intellectual, and inspiring is scrapped in the pursuit of "what appeals" to the simpletons of today.

Please support Mr. Shinji Mikami and Mr. Akira Yamaoka in their undertaking of this their newest game. I hope with all of my heart, body, mind, and soul that Akira and Shinji will work well together, and they will not give up their specific charms, talents, and abilities to create what they THINK gamers of today want lieu of something beautiful and amazing. I want to see what they can REALLY do together. This is Survival Horror's one last stand, in my humble opinion. If they fail, we will all be doomed to an era of total monotony and poorly done remakes of games from a better day.

I drew oldschool Chris and Wesker, and the original Pyramid Head alongside James, because I believe them to be "the best of both worlds", just like Shinji and Akira. Roids!Kris, Fugly-Terminator!Wesker, and Movie/SHHC!Pyramid Head can all go rot in hell.

*takes a deep sigh*

And now that that is over; I did make mention that you'd be seeing more of my art in this particular style. Why? Well, to but it simply... I was feeling constrained by my older chibi-style. The style was influenced by two of my friends who I don't even really talk to anymore, and so that hurt, for one thing. I was so absorbed in trying to MAKE myself draw my chibis in that way that I started to hate and resent my own style. I felt trapped and confined, like what I was drawing really wasn't 'me', but what was EXPECTED out of me. I hated it. On many occasions it made me want to stop drawing all together. You have got to admit that when you get to the point of hating what you are doing that much, that it's time for a change. I really hope that no one will think that I am "stealing" anyone else's style. That is my greatest concern. I have taken influences from many friends and places (*PracticalAl , *wislo , ~Flaii-chan , =rosestrife & !slayterwesker , ~caalsio , =spoonybards , and even from various cartoon shows like PPG, FlapJack, FOP, Grim Adventures, Dexter, SpongeBob, Ren & Stimpy, Rocko's Modern Life, and Invader Zim/JTHM, etc etc), but I did not take one thing from any one person out right. Please be considerate in my need to try out something new. I really think that this style is more ME than my other style. I feel more liberated, and much much happier when I am drawing this way. It is fun, it is loose, and it doesn't take so long to finish that I contemplate if it's even worthwhile... I am happier now with my art than I ever was before. I will still be sure to draw in my older style on occasion though, so now think of it as me having three distinct styles; my 'normal' style, my 'animu chibi' style, and my 'zany chibi' style. I hope that you will all understand and continue to support me as well.
