Okay, going to clear some things up like the WW1/2 fact troll that I am. The Red 9 was in fact the standard issue version for the German Armed Forces for WW1 I believe.
The Red 9 was an off-shoot of the Mauser c96 which shot 9x19mm. The c96 was in fact used by most Russian and Chinese forces in WW2, but only saw action in German hands in WW1. Most of the Russian Militia used it during WW2 as did some Russian officers if they couldn't get their hands on a luger.
Most c96s are chambered a 7.62x25mm or .45 ACP (Most Shansi models use the .45 calibre), the Red 9 was the only 9x19mm model as far as I know.
Probably one of my favorite industrial era weapon. Also makes great steam punk :3

The Red 9 and the Mauser C96 are in fact the same gun. The difference is that the Red 9 (which is what it was actually nicknamed) fired 9mm bullets while the Mauser C96 fired some other exotic pistol caliber. The C96 saw more action around Europe while the Red 9 was used most heavily in China. The Red 9 was also sometimes called the "Box Cannon".

I have always wanted one of those when I once saw it in a gun magazine that I've read years ago. It is the most awesome handgun in RE4 in my opinion. Nice that many others also agree.

I'm not fond of weapons but the C96 is really my favourite, how beautiful !
For fans, the C96 appears in differents movies like :
"Jin Roh - The Wolf Brigade", the great french movie "Les tontons flingueurs", and also (hahaha) in "StarWars"
Indeed, the Han's Solo laserpistol is a modified C96. LOL !

heh i believe thats the strongest handgun in the game. EVA uses it in metal gear solid 3, snake call it "the broom handle"

The Handcannon? Yes but I like the Red 9 better. It's more steady and easier to aim with. It's just so cool. I got 200000 with Wesker on Mercenaries and got 164 consecutive kills to go with that! If ya don't believe me, I'll mail ya a pic. Just ask.
