Description
About 2 months ago I learned of the return of Bionicle, and was lucky enough to have LEGO send me a selection of the new parts to play around with before the unveiling at New York Comic Con. So, I tested out the versatility of the parts they sent me to see what the parts can do outside of the intended purpose. This model came together as I figured out possible techniques. I never gave it a name, just called it a weird bird.

Ever since Lego has progressed with Bionicle, I felt that the pieces that were made were too practical, like arm will definitely be the arm and the leg will definitely be the leg. When they first came out with Technic and Bionicle, every piece could have a totally different function. What are your feelings about the current pieces?

Old pieces were easier to work with because they connected directly to technic parts. New pieces need a transition to connect to technic making it harder to make any sort of detail in a model. I do like the new colors though.

I have to say, though, even though new parts are always a blessing, I'm not sure I like where LEGO are going with the story on this. They seem to be overly-confusing the origin story, and the powers of the characters. They don't need to do any of that - BIONICLE's origin story is simple, and strong in that simplicity. It's not broken and they don't need to "fix" it like this. If they're going to reboot the franchise, then by all means, retell the story for a new generation - but tell it like it was back then, in the beginning. There's no need to change things up.
