A very big change for your norm & because it is, it must be very significant. Usually your bodies of work have so many things going on at once, that it's hard not to miss many important elements even with close scrutiny. By comparison this piece with the glowing solid yellow background is almost Minimalist in effect. LOLΒ Still it has that same stamp of perfection & fluidity and though it's subtle there is a quiet complexity that can be missed at 1st glance:Β each roots section has eyes, mouth, & face accompanied by a happy expressions. The spermatozoa are like musical notes as if the mandrake is singing a happy song. Love the vivid green you used on the leaves & the colorful berries.

You're right, this minimalistic picture is very different from others but it was done deliberately, I did something like a botanical illustration for the Encyclopedia of Magical Plants. At first I thought to create a series, but then rejected the idea, maybe someday...
