I will be honest... thanks for saying it is a painting.
Your work is a great source of inspiration - and if I weren't so caught up with my schoolwork, I would be writing - though I'd be far too self-conscious to post anything. Maybe one day.
This serie is breathtaking - as all of your work, I am swept away.
The pose is impressive, in its own way. I can't exactly say how but it is. (And don't kick me but it reminds me of those old pictures of fallen angels... *runs off*)

Aww... you're welcome dear, happy to say it is! I'm delighted to hear that they are, that really means a lot Raven! You should never feel self-conscious about posting your work, I'm sure it will it get a lot of positive feedback, and you can always remove it later if you become that much so. I post my self-portraits and I am terrified, though I'm far from perfect I'm not ashamed! You're wonderful, thank you again, and I love the fallen angel idea so please don't run.

lokesa In reply to Retro-Grade1 [2010-03-25 17:56:59 +0000 UTC]

Please, don't be terrified - I mean, there is no reason to. (Hum, though I'm not known for being that rational myself sooo) They are amazing!

Alright, I'm not running. (But being self-conscious is, in a way, the reason why I take pictures and write. To go out of myself, somehow.)

Thank you sweetheart, that means a lot! I will try to be less so and you too Raven!

I understand that, at least in your writing you're separated some, but in self-portraits it's a lot harder as it's you who is depicted. If that makes any sense. I am a very flawed person, scars from life, etc., and don't think I'm particularly attractive so I get nervous, that's just me being honest. Thank you, I'm really happy I found you, and that you're here!

This picture is absolutely fabulous! I inspires me gratefully and truthfully well! This has to be a definite favorite Hehe. I love the colours and you have positioned them very well! I think I would actually buy this right now If i had some money to spare! Could I just be you for a day and just slip your painting into a bag and run off? Hehe. anyway. I'm starting to write an essay!
Bye for now!

You're welcome sweet, always! Let me convert it pounds for you, but I'm worried you may when you see it. If it were in a gallery then 1,750 Pounds, but it's not at the moment and I'd sell it for about 900 pounds or so. Aww.... Thank you Roxanne!

Oh my god! I find it so fasinating how much money you can make for art. thats just brilliant! i admire ur work! LOL I painted in the past but not art like urs. more like abstract art.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Retro-Grade1 In reply to roxyms [2010-01-02 22:31:53 +0000 UTC]

Indeed! A few years ago I was able to live off my art, but those days are over. If, and when, the economy picks up that may happen again, but now it's survival mode and I'll take pretty much whatever I can for a painting. I can't paint nearly as much I wish, or used to, as survival and money (I.e. a job) are needed!
It's kind of depressing in truth, corparations get bailed out by the dozen, yet artists are left to suffer, makes no sense, but that's the world! Thank you, that means a lot. I love abstract work, done a few, and I'l love to see yours if you ever decide to post them!

these sets remind me of apart of my past, the love of someone i once had and let go... he was in a wreck on a bike that left him paralyzed from the waist down.

i did not meet him untill after the accident and him being paralyzed didn't even bother me... not one bit!! but in the end i was the one who was not good enough, he wanted me to be something i was not?!

rambling, sorry!! old memories...

Your comment took my breath away!! I'm moved that you shared that with me! And please, don't be sorry for rambling, I love that you felt such a connection with my work, I'm honored. I'm sorry too, but you can't feel that you weren't good enough because he asked you to be something weren't. Thank you so much for sharing that, it means alot.

This set is really beautiful...and hard to look at if all the implications are what I think they are...

Is this all sort of a documentation?

An amazing set, either way...and all traditional paintings...amazing!
