when i was younger my only priorities were peoplethen i realized
people wont always be around
and dependency shouldn't be an option
now
my first priority is myself!

Being independent is not prioritizing yourself. Being independent is being able to care for yourself, being able to solve your own problems. Being independent is litterally nothing more than not depending on others.
You can do all of that, while still prioritizing other people.
