Aw, well, anyone of any skill level can still do a critique. A critique doesn't just have to include what needs improvement; you can tell the person what you really like about the piece so they at least know they're doing something right. Know what I mean?

lolz I gotcha...Well um...I like the way u blended the orange into all parts of the painting giving it a sexy evening candlelight-esque look does that work?

Definitely! I think that makes a better comment than "Nice!" or "Great work!" because it not only helps me, but it also helps you analyze other's work better and possibly improves your own work.
So, thanks a bunch!

really nice job on the background. I would love to see a little more contrast between the lights and darks on the figure, though.

No, I changed my mind, haha. I like this piece a lot and I should improve it as much as I can, instead of letting it sit like it is. Thanks... again? Haha.

Thanks!
I don't know if I'll go back and fix this particular piece now, but I will definitely try using more contrast on my next thing. Thanks again for the tip!

i'd concour; i'd say that the lighting dose feel very warm, what with the mellow orangy- yellow colour you've used for it and this is only assentuated by the fact it's surrounded by such a cool blue. bye the by, this is an amazingly strong peice of work. the depth f the colouring really brings this to life (i really like th way you've handled the lightin on the brick work. the dappled effect it gose into really brings out the texture of the brick work. the same gose for the somewhat tighter, grainy look the lower stone work) while the figure in the oreground really catches the two types of light in this image. the combination of thick and thin brush-strokes in her hair captures the nature of it while the blue tinge of the shadowsallows her to fit in with the image.

i did the accurate perspective on the wall and the cluter in the ally way really makrs it tangible. however, is it me or is the ciggeret a tad on the annorexic side? also, prehapse this element of the image could be brought fowards by making the ttip of the fag slightly brighter.

Yeah, after a while I thought the cigarette looked skinny too. But you've compelled me to fix it.
And as always, thanks for the wonderful comments, I'm always flattered by them.

The background must've taken ages to draw! Good job on this. The lighting's pretty good too (I've got no idea how to do night lighting)..

...hm, who does that look like?
nice job on the lighting, it looks... really good. and the title kind of contradicts the pic, don't it?

Yeah, it does contradict, but I like it that way.

whether or not it's warm in the way you want, I think the light in this is really good, and I really love the textures on the wall - the angle is great too!

Love it. <3 The lighting isn't bad, it's just a weak light.

If you want to make the picture look warmer, you need to have the red glow from the light overpower the blue. The area immediately near the door and the light look warm, but she looks cold because it's all blue (cold color)

Either make the light stronger, add just more of a glow from it over all the other bricks and her, or use a different color for said bricks (:

But honestly I like this picture the way it is. It's lovely. <3

Did an awesome job with the lighting, looks great. Also I'd kill myself before I got the bricks perfect like that, nice perspective.

The bricks weren't that hard actually, thanks to opencanvas's line tool.

WHAT A LAME RESOLUTION!

"Work on lighting."

It should be something exciting, like, "Don't watch any Futurama," or "Don't use OpenCanvas1.1 this year."
