I like this. This may be one time where a utility pole actually adds something to an image.

I have no problem with the pole, to be honest. If there were something a little more interesting in the distance then it might be worth removing, but the interesting part is really the foreground scene.
If anything Iβd consider cropping in a little on the bottom to remove a little of the shadowed area and keep the extreme foreground interesting.
If you wanted, you could even try cropping it square: remove the little bit of clear sky at the top and some of the monotonous shadow at the bottom.

Didnβt notice anything at all. Hallmark of a good retoucher, my friend.

I had a look at the thumbnails (I always find it very helpful to see a very small version of a photo, for some reason) and decided that you were right. The dark shadowy area at the bottom of the photo wasn't really adding anything, so it's better without it.
I'm glad nobody has noticed the rather complicated edit I did on the right hand side, makes it worth the time I spent making it look right.

I know what you mean about square crops, but it seems to work in this case. The focal point is still off-centre, so thereβs still some visual tension going on, and it definitely makes for a more uniform frame, methinks.

You mean like this? [link]
The bare patch of sky towards the top was bothering me too, but I wasn't sure what to do about it. Part of me dislikes square crops, but I'm not sure why.
I do like the square crop in this case, but still the ratio is bothering me.
I always appreciate your comments, by the way. It's so hard to get any kind of helpful critiques on DA (which is why I usually go elsewhere before I post photos here). Almost always you get ass-kissing, which is encouraging I guess, but not very helpful.
