Description Necrons need some new units - their current list is frightfully barren, with so much potential.

1. C'tan Cultists/Machine Converts - These guys are essentially Husks from Mass Effect. Living sapients infected through their bionics (and special scarabs), they act as shock-troop cannon-fodder.

2. Sarcophagi - Armoured, semi-floating walkers. Vicious in close combat, capable of being upgraded with Pariah-like abilities. They're thought to be used to harvest living tissue - for what purpose is unknown.

3. Pariah. We know the score on these guys - humans with the Pariah gene, captured and converted into Cyberman-esque cyborgs with an anti-psyker bent. It's believed that Necrons have the ability to extract material for their Pariahs from humans who aren't actively blanks - it just takes a lot more of them to get enough worthy cells.

4. Obelisk. The little brother of the Monolith - capable of everything the big M can, but cheaper, smaller, and less heavily-armed and armoured.

5. A Shade. Essentially a ranged-combat version of the Wraith, equipped with nasty Assault Gauss weaponry.

6. Crypt Spyder variants. From left to right - Constructor Spyder, Stalker Spyder, Guardian Spyder. Scarab-building/Res Orb effect, CC MC nastiness, and ranged combat, respectively.

7. Crypt Wyrm. Used to excavate entire planets, also called Undertaker Wyrms, Metal Maggots, etc. A deep-striking assault unit of Beasts with a wicked cover save as it moves through the ground.

8. Mantleborn. Necrons caught in continental drift, volcanic activity, or who were simply damaged too badly too many times to properly repair - physically deformed and equipped with mental capabilities ranging from mindless to insane. Think the T-X toward the end of T3 - a skeletal form with liquid metal thrashing and dripping around it.

9. AEonic Orb. Essentially a Monolith, exchanging the transport capabilities for a horrifying superweapon.

Why not try borrowing dwarf archetypes for inspiration?

Dwarves are an ancient, curmudgeonly race who dislike the upstart races, and are patient and think the other races are too hasty.

Necrons are an ancient race which dislikes the upstart younger races and plays the long game with the universe.

The dwarves have underground cities/mines scattered across the world. Some have been polluted or destroyed by their foes or natural disasters over the centuries.

The necrons have many underground tomb complexes scattered across the galaxy. Some have been polluted or destroyed by their foes or by natural disasters over the eons.

Both races hate their universe's respective pointy ears, and are hated in return by those same pointy ears.

Both races have high technology but lack magic.

Both have very long held grudges with their enemies.

Necron warriors have axes for bayonets, and warscythes look like huge axes. Dwarves tend to use lots of axes.

Most necrons are quite slow in battle, and dwarves are also quite slow in battle.

I can't fit the beards and alcohol but there are plenty of shared traits.

The idea of dwarven necrons reminds me of Inso's Beetlebots . Compare this picture to the archetypal fantasy dwarf .

how about adding Necron Space Marines, they are basically Sci-fi version of Fantasy Death Knights where they have at least 5 chapters: one that dedicated to C'Tan undivided and 4 that dedicated to 4 C'tan gods. they are usually comes from Humans with Cyborg body parts or Space Marines that infected with Necron Nanomachines?

how about giving Necrons Transforming robots(where they are basically constructs that where the living metal that makes up their frame are has their nanomachine cells capable of rearranging themselves) where they makes up Necron Aircrafts?
