pft I never liked that running meter, sure it was handy, but man did it get me killed a lot. ((I had to run across the sand and he'd often stop in the middle of it.

Skyward Sword Link is still one of the fastest - if not, the fastest Link. Plus, the Stamina Fruit and Potion exists for a reason. The fruit was always laid out on the path ahead so you could continue to run as long as you were smart enough to grab it; same for climbing vines and such.
The Stamina Meter really wasn't that bad. At least when SS Link ran, he wasn't still a slowpoke like most of the other Links.Β

Haha this is the best thing ever, the ability to run in Skyward Sword felt so good, but that stamina meter would mess you up if you got too happy running around.

Yeah, it gets on my nerves how fast his stamina wears out, especially when my stupid nunchuck acts like I did a spin attack and then does one, making his energy drop even more; when in the older games, there was no such problem. Skyward sword is pretty tough to get used to. :/ But then again, so was Ocarina of Time when it first came out.Β

I think TP Link is the fastest of them all in terms of running speed and distance covered. SS Link can sprint, but this is the obvious flaw right here. OOT/MM and WW Link have theor jobs, which is good, but most people have them rolling around everywhere to speed up, so their clothes would be more brown than green and I imagine tumbling constantly leaves one a bit sore, so they got decent speed and stamina, but it's nothing special. But TP Link, while he can do this too, has Wolf-form, which is about tumbling speed at normal, and he constantly has dashes that give him more speed that he can use after a brief cool down, so stamina he has in droves (probably from all that ranching and farming).Β
Clearly, the superior Link when it comes to travel and running marathons: TP Link!

Well, they may improve this mechanic in future games as well...The new game have a larger world, and maybe running on it (of course, slowest than horse riding), would make the experience better...And, there wasn't really any other way to go faster aside from rolling all the way in the other games, that kinda feel like a real life to me...xP
There was parts when you could run a lot more though, collecting the little stamina plants, and if I recall right, there was also a potion that let your stamina deplete slower or not even depleting at all (?)....
And well, if we take it realistically, humans do get tired if continuously running...and speaking of the horse, even before, back to Ocarina of Time days, Epona have also a depletable speed boost, so it's not something "all new" in the franchise...

The three Links can roll forwards an unlimited number of times without that pesky stamina meter getting in the way. Anybody else ever roll everywhere they went?

But still, at least it aint as bad as the evil within's stamina meter, freakin' 3 seconds of running in regular clothes and the dude is out of breath and has to forcefully stop to catch his breath... for idk... about 5 seconds.
