Description I took way too long to get around to finishing this, it was started while booth-sitting at a bazaar where I sold some art. This was a case of my sitting around going 'what should I draw next? Small stuff isn't selling.'
My friend suggested illustrating a bit from a childhood storybook, so this was meant to be a vague illustration for 'At the Back of the North Wind' by George MacDonald. Of course when I got home and glanced through I discovered Diamond is supposed to have blonde hair, and the North Wind's hair should be black. Everyone who passed by the table also asked me what the boat was doing next to the angel.
For those who don't know it, this is a really interesting book, and I was trying to illustrate the part where Diamond and the North Wind are out across the ocean, and she tells him how she has to go whip up a storm and crash a ship. I love the elemental indifference in that scene. She's the North Wind. This is what she does.

Watercolor pencil and pigma micron on smooth bristol paper. Original for sale in household Etsy shop!
