wow, cool, I think monochrome works are kinda more interesting than black and white, and that blue goes well with red here

The red in this image is quite striking--it contrasts so starkly with the blue. And the expressions are amazing--how much emotion is in this artwork is amazing. You did an incredible job conveying the emotion.

As for the black and white to colour technique...that is an interesting thing to experiment with. I've tried it, and it took me several attempts to get a method down that would work for me...but generally I'm not partial to it, as I prefer to work with colour. However, a tip that might help you with your own experimentation--start the rough sketch base of the image in colour (i.e. sketch of the figured, plus the colours you'd like to use for skin, hair--maybe even add some shadows in--all very rough); duplicate those layers (or that layer, whichever) and desaturate them. This will give you a black and white base to work with that already plays to the colours you want to use later on--refine the b&w layer, then drag or duplicate the colour layers so that they're "above" the b&w refined sketch--set the coloured layers to "colour" (if you're working with Photoshop--an equivalent layer setting in another program would also work probably); overlay, soft light, and multiply are also good layer blending options to use when "colouring" a b&w refined sketch.

The emotion on their faces, especially hers are palpable.   The colors are well done.  Very nice!
