Usually street shots happen to be spontaneous things, and thus there's often a certain chaotic element to them. Personally, I'm not a street photographer, I do things the slow way; which is why I chose to do a critique on this piece.
The first thing that struck me about this picture (and what made me look into it instead of skipping it) is that it seems to be carefully composed. This might be actual planning or coincidence, only the photographer could tell, but the effect is the same. This shot works very well from the standpoint of, say, a landscape photographer. The composition is spot on; it's strongly centralized (with the cyclist as focal point), has leading lines (the one on the pavement and the streetlights above), and there's a nice symmetry to it.
Nevertheless, it also works well as a classical street shot, naturally. It captures people "in the moment", as with the two men at the right having a conversation, contrasted with the people at the left, sitting by themselves.
There isn't so much to say about the technique part of it; it's a typical toned black and white and works well in that regard. Personally, I don't really see the point of the glowing colored advert at the center top (seems a bit distracting), but that's about the only "con" I can think of.
All in all, a street shot that is more than just "street".
