The Guardstars are a team of elite superhumans put together under the leadership and supervision of Statesman. They effectively act as a their own division of the U.S. Armed Forces. They consist of Statesman- Armored Super Soldier, Bandolier- Non-Lethal Sharpshooter Supreme, Tiger Hawk- Fierce Hybrid Hi-Flyer, Grindstone, Magnificent Monolith, Amberr- Force Field Controller, Shadowdragon (Dragonshadow)- Super Agile Martial Artist, Moonfrost- Odd Icemaking Gymnast, and Video- Magnetic Light & Image producer. A few other members have come & gone over time.
Statesman- Jonathan Plymouth, a patriotic super soldier in his own right even without his technically advanced armor. A charismatic, conservative, family man, with a photographic memory and an iron will, he eschews politics in favor of his military service. His armor has a myriad of technological abilities and senses, with various intense visor blasts. His enhanced physiology makes him capable of controlling the armor (which is constantly updated) without difficulty, a regular human would likely harm themselves terribly under the strain. Much less advanced versions of the armor are worn by the U.S. Star Commandos
His enhanced physiology also slows his aging. He was in his early 20's when he started his heroic career under the identity of Reliant in the early 70's, (becoming Statesman in the 80's) and appears to have aged less than a decade in the past 40+yrs.
Mick Pierson, only son and heir of Nicholas Pierson, the man behind Piercon weapon manufacturing. Trained as Olympic pentathlete material, but was kept from competing. Also kept from military service due to rich family trying to hide his gay lifestyle. Actually utilizes his superhuman accuracy as a freedom fighter, yet does not kill if possibly avoided. He's SO accurate that he doesn't NEED to kill. Mick possesses the superhuman ability to subconsciously instantly decipher the angles and trajectories necessary to perfect any shot. Combined with his extensive knowledge of all firearms, their ammunition, and their ranges, he can accurately survey a battlescene, and step seemingly into a line of fire, knowing precisely where bullets will strike and take the exact shot needed to disarm an opponent. His bandolier is known for carrying various forms of trick ammo, such as flame retardant foam, rubber bullets, and various others. His outfit colors change depending upon the mission at hand, but generally keep to the basic 2 or 3 color design.
Tiger Hawk- Mitch Turnbull, Former Air Force pilot, African American, unfinished doctorate in Veterinary Science. Looks human with some slight animal-like markings under mask. Possesses both feline and avian abilities (enhanced smell, hearing, claws, balance,& focused telescopic vision) aided by advanced gadgets (glider wings, folding boot talons).
Mitchell Turnbull joined the Air Force in order to pay his way towards getting his veterinary degree. Assigned to fly reconnaissance over an uncharted island, his fighter was shot down by unexpected defenses. Surviving the crash, he was found and used in experiments by the unscrupulous geneticist Dr. Marrow, turning him into a gryphon-like hybrid of human, feline, and avian. Mitch lead a revolt, and with the timely help of the superteam the Guardstars, was able to overthrow Dr. Marrow and his loyalists. As Tiger Hawk, Mitch later joined the Guardstars team. Sadly, while Marrow has been presumed dead, much of his research still sees use clandestinely, and a number of his other experiments (Varmint, Mastiff, and others) are still at large.
Grindstone is Tyrone Grey, a former miner that was caught in a cave-in after uncovering some sort of alien material. The substance transformed him, causing him to become one with his surroundings, changing him into a 9' tall nigh-invulnerable stone monolith with massive superhuman strength. His strength surpasses that of a typical Hulk (though Hulk can become stronger), and he could survive a direct nuclear blast. He unfortunately has little tactile sensation, and worries if he is destined to spend the rest of his days as a living boulder. As the government were investigating other appearances of this alien mineral, they found Tyrone and were willing to help him with his condition in exchange for his agreement with experiments. They then offered him a place among their elite team, the Guardstars. Not that it has needed to come into use, but he is able to enter a form of hibernation, effectively aging just moments per year.
Amberr- Sheri Lloyd, former military Nurse/Lab Assistant, exposure to alien material gave her amber-colored mental powers of telepathy, telekinesis, healing, force blasts, and force fields. Demure, conservative personality. Has been working with the government ever since the disappearance of her brother as a teenager
Shadowdragon (aka Dragon's Shadow)- Kenneth Wan, phenomenal ninja/martial artist with superhuman level of agility. Half Chinese/American. Possesses pieces of ancient armor (Arms, Boots) said to be made from dragon scales and rumored mystically powerful if fully collected. Has a rather laid-back, Zen attitude at most times, but is a bit of a motormouth when in combat.
Moonfrost- Karen Frost, former Olympic gymnast, victim of a terrorist attack with unstable materials that gave her the power to produce a form of smoky-black ice which melts not from heat, but exposure to light. She is immune to cold, and gains sustenance from moonlight. Her eyes (which allow her to see in the dark) are a solid smoky black and she often wears sunglasses in public. Personality-wise, she tends to be something of a smartass.
Video- Kimberly Knack, Dancer, Choreographer of mixed ancestry. Can turn into & create and record light/'"video" illusions. Able to utilize various visual senses and produce laser beams. Her abilities are disrupted by strong magnetic fields.
