Description Acrylic on canvas, about 14"x11"

This piece is currently for sale in my Etsy store!

This is a reworking of a painting I did in 2010:

The original was kind of bland, there was nothing in the foreground, and the trees were completely lacking in detail.  I think the new version works a lot better!  Pretty generic-y, but that's fine.

Harsh criticism is welcome!  In particular, I'd appreciate any advice you have regarding the foreground (that bush doesn't look right to me) and the midground (the flowers/grass are too fuzzy maybe?).

Some might say it's messy but I say it's beautiful. It reminds of a great artist (I just forget his name) and I took pride in his work and now I have another artist I can take pride in. I love the pink flowers and how serine it is. I feel like the style used is great for this piece of work cause it just matches. I understand how it's suppose to be like a messy style but I still believe there could be some more detail. Great work overall though very good and please don't stop making it.

Apparently I took too long to reply to this!  Sorry.  But I think it's fair, and thank you for your comments!

I also agree that more detail might be helpful...  I seem to have trouble with that when I'm working from imagination.

Thanks again!

This piece is beautiful. I love the subtle details on the bridge in contrast to the hazy flowers - the colors are much more beautiful than the ones in the piece's predecessor.

The little bush in the corner creates a sense of depth, however it seems slightly out of place - after all it is a completely purple bush (please excuse my non-existent knowledge of botany). Also, the colors in this piece are slightly moody and suggest that it is a scene from winter - although the flowers suggest otherwise. You may want to take the seasons and weather into account when painting landscapes - especially if there are seasonal plants involved.

The season, weather and time of day are the main influences in a landscape painting that mostly involves natural scenery (I'm not so sure for architecture and things like that) - for example, the pale, bleak sky suggests winter, or cooler weather.

Lastly, I have read from your profile that you like to explore how you see things as an artist. So to express that in a painting, perhaps you could choose a more unique vantage point? For example, one of my favorite photos was taken from the photographer's spot in an alcove of some sort - the opening framed the picture and contrasted starkly with the bright, vivid market beyond. For natural landscapes, you could try looking up - or seeing through something, like a hole in a tree.

Really though, this piece is somewhat stunning (albeit slightly generic due to the composition or the colors). I hope to see more of your work in the future! Keep it up!

I love this!! I love the twist that the angle of the hill and descending bridge gives this painting, and the additive way you did the bleak sunlight coming through the leaves. The color scheme is also great. Fantastic!
