My goodness!! We must have passed each other without knowing. That was a splendid day indeed. If I remember rightly Dolgoch was still waiting on the fitting of the air pump hence why Talyllyn had to provide the air for the train brakes. Splendid picture indeed. I got some of Sir Haydn and Edward Thomas as they were double heading. I must get round to putting them up at some point.

I have to admit I do rather like this livery over the former green she was in at one point. Though I thing deeper reds and maroon colors fit these narrow gauge engines very well. And it helps the locomotive to stand out from the foliage in the background. Or at least these are my thoughts.

Another excellent photo! Thanks for sharing!

Since the Talyllyn Railway did make Sir Handel, Peter Sam and Duncan faces for the real life engines, I wonder if they ever did Skarloey and Rheneas.Β

I think they may have done Rheneas at one point; I doubt they've ever done Skarley, though.

Dolgoch seems to have the same red paint as his Sodor conterpart Rheneas

Dolgoch was called the 'Old Lady'

And most locomotives are referred to as 'she's

Not quite, Rheneas is sort of a Cherry Red.

145 years old and still going strong. Granted, most of it's component parts have been replaced, so it's more like grandfather's broom (seven handles and ten heads) these days...
