Description This was one of my first experiences with a laundromat, and this little girl definitely made it worthwhile. She ran around the entire time, playing in the dirty detergent puddles and yelling. Her poor grandmother couldn't even begin to control her.

Canon AE-1, 50mm, 1/125 at f/2.8 (I think... how do you film people remember these things?)

Kodak TMax 400

I make notes. Lots
It is very 'analog', slow and cumbersome (juggling notebook, pencil, camera and a few rolls of film) but somehow it makes a stronger impression on the mind than merely seeing numbers dancing in the viewfinder.
After a while you really 'learn' the light and you don't need the notes anymore, neither do you need a light meter, you just 'know'

"1/125 at f/2.8 " sounds about right for an indoor shot with large window source. You get great shadows using such diffused lighting in midday.

As for remembering? You get used to it as you get to know the film. Then it becomes second nature because you only have 2 numbers to remember.

Fun shot!

you should carry a note pad around with you, and write down specs of your shots..

Really nice frame. I love laundromats. They always have this strange muted emotion to them. I like the composition a lot.

thanks a lot! too bad the focus is off, but i'm still getting used to this camera, so i guess i can expect a lot of fuckups.

Sugarman In reply to rhapsouldize [2007-11-05 06:04:56 +0000 UTC]

I just wanted to say that there's no reason to worry about the focus here... the funny expression cancels it out!

don't talk about fuckups - first of all: you do TAKE photos. 2: they are fucking GREAT.
(I am so not used to the AE-1 when it's necessary to be fast )

haha, well thanks. i agree... the AE-1 is tough to get used to! i'm loving every second of it, though. thanks!
