Just so ya know, I cheated and used an image from the internet to make the flashy light thing. That's actually a lens flare. But I added some "artistic filters" to it, and I did the sparkles at the bottom all by myself.
The lens flare was really great. It pretty much did all the shading for me because it provided a light source. Lens flares are my new favorite thing. Besides chocolate. And Homestuck. And Star Wars. And-

Ok so they're not actually my new favorite thing. Whatever.
