I know… it’s been a while since I’ve posted… but I’m back now with another raptor model! This time one that can move its arms like wings! Using the internal wound-up paper to create flapping wings is actually a design I usually use for my dragons. I thought it would be interesting to see how it would work on a raptor. While it’s unlikely that almost any raptor species actually flapped its wings to fly or even glide long distances like that of modern birds, it has been speculated that they used their wings to scale trees where they can descend onto prey. The wings could then be used to stabilize themselves while latching onto the backs of their victim using the classic sickle claws. While these specializations may not be fully supported by what’s available in the fossil record, it is an Idea I wanted to test out with a 3D model.
