It's a shame you don't make more of them.

I like this style, too. Other styles sell better, though. Oh well.

Just beautiful. I love the design of this one in particular, probably cause i love greek mythology.
All of your pieces look like they belong in a museum, they're that wonderful.
Out of curiosity, are any of these pieces for sale? or do you do commissions at all?

Take care, Emma. -x-

Hi, thanks for the complement! Of the ones I have pictured, four are in my own collection, some are currently in a display at the Colorado Springs airport (after the show ends in March, they'll be for sale), and the rest are either sold or in galleries. I've done a couple commissions--one was a funeral urn for a dog that belonged to a concert musician couple. Had a tree for a lid handle and Gregorian chant music carved around the rim...maybe I'll post a picture if I can find one. I also try to tailor the designs/colors for different galleries based on what style sells best in different areas of the country; blue crackle seems to sell well in South Carolina, the orange with horsehair sells well in Santa Fe, etc. I like the helmets best, but they don't seem to sell as well as some of the others.

Thanks again, Jerry

Well i love this piece and the atlantis helmet too. What price would you sell this one for? just so i can see if i could ever afford one of your works.

This would make such a perfect display piece in my parents new cabinet.

It'd be nice to give them a present that they hadn't already chosen for themselves for once.

Anyway, you're very much welcome for the complement, you deserve it.

So take care and keep coming up with more of these amazing designs.

Retail in a gallery, it would go for $425. To another artist, half that. This helmet's in a display at the Colorado Springs airport till March.

Cheers, Jerry

Your work is amazing. What kind of clay do you throw with?

Thanks! Mostly, I use Soldate 60. Holds its form pretty well while throwing, resists thermal shock, good for sculpting lids. Sometimes, I have a couple problems with it, though: occasionally, a batch will have some impurity or something that turns the bisqueware pink. Also, sometimes after a piece is done and has been sitting on a shelf for a while, I'll notice little "pop-offs"--1/8 to 3/16 square inch areas where the glaze has just popped off leaving a white bare clay spot.

Cheers, Jerry
