Hello! I love your pottery so much. The texture details look amazing. Where do you buy those african porcupine quills? They look amazing together with the piece.

I get them at the African Porcupine store, of course!

The colors look very golden--nice! And I like how the quills are used in this too.
Not sure what to say about the top, though. More specifically, what it looks like; a...skateboard chariot?

This could have a rightful place at the Chinese imperial court!

Love the patterns and color scheme on your pottery works. They give a hybrid sense of story to the art, as if narrating about a time and civilization somewhere off in history. Very proffesional glazing as well. I hope to see more of your work! -Ky

I'm really liking the texture around the rim of the pot and the silverish rings in the quill circle. What tool did you use to get that effect?

That crackle glaze is beautiful. I love how you have these perfect, symmetrical pieces with the organic splash forms of glaze on the outside. It's a wonderful union of the traditional perfect and the perfect through imperfection.

I just use a pencil while the clay is still wet. Actually, I don't use a whole lot of clay tools--all the ones I own fit in a little tupperware box. I like to try to create complexity from simplicity and juxtapose organic and inorganic elements; as Charles Darwin might say, "...from so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been, and are being evolved."

Thanks again.

Simplicity is always the way to go in art, particularly when it comes to tools. Though I actually need to get a little less simple; I never experiment with textures on my pots. I'll have to try a pencil next time.

Thanks for the replies ^^

I know i don't often comment your pottery, but i always look and marvel!... i love the porcupine quilss and the flat top of this.. how do u work with the glazing though.. you think ahead of the colour and change the heat? i don't know the first thing about pottery but this time of "crackle" patina changes colour by heat right? I made a tiny vessle once in an introduction course and loved it. it turned out white and crackled. loved it!

Heat, glaze, and post-firing techniques all play a part in how the final piece turns out. Some preplanning and a little luck don't hurt, either!

Thanks for all the wonderful comments!
