Yay, another reader! I admit, I spent about a week reading up on the Royal Stars. I had studied about them when I took a college course in Ancient Mythology, but I wanted to know more for my own entertainment and to see if this was something I could use in this story. I didn't plan on using the Royal Stars at all until Chapter 5 where Loke lists all the names "Leo the Lion" has gone by over the years. To make that list, which I felt was important to give the readers a depth of just how ancient he is, I did a crapload of research, and that's where I came across Venant, Haftorang, and the other Royal Stars. Once I read about them, I got fascinated and thought "Here's my main conflict! An ancient friend turned enemy who will make Loke pick between the past and the present." Up until then, I had no clue where I was going with this story. It was totally by accident, LOL!

I've always loved astronomy and mythology, so some of this is blending science, myth, Fairy Tail, and my own storytelling. Fomalhaut really was one of the Royal Stars, called Haftorang in ancient Persia, but for the constellation with that star, Piscis Austrinus, is considered a minor constellation nowadays, one very few people even know exists. In Greek Mythology, he gained a place in the stars for hiding Aphrodite and her son Cupid in his huge mouth. Some ancient cultures depict him as a whale, some as a merman. Pisces were his children in some stories, since they were also fish. Since Piscis Austrinus is at the foot of Aquarius and swallows the waters she pours out, I thought it'd be cute if they once had a relationship. Much of the detail about Scorpio in the story, like him losing his memory and having a split personality due to trauma--which is why in the show he says "We are!" all the time--was just made up, usually right on the spot and totally on a whim. I guess my mind works frantically and in weird directions.

As for Libra and Pisces, I think the two huge fish we see in Chapter 262 are probably Pisces but I'm not sure, so I'm being careful not to describe them. I was very careful never to address Libra as either male or female, and I'm sure the personality will be totally off. Recently I read "Mashima-en" also by Hiro Mashima, and one of the extras was his depiction of the Zodiac, a prototype to Fairy Tail, I guess. In that we see many familiar faces like Cancer and Taurus, and there is also a female Libra who's quirk is always knowing how much people weigh. I can imagine that being a pain to Lucy, who is so self-conscious about her weight. So I might add that in later.

omg that is amazing lol ...

ya im still in high school but im taking three differnent history coarses one of which being mythology ... but ya i absolutely loved the story and loved how you put it together ... im really imature and flustered easily so when u got into "detail" on some parts it was like "Fast forward fast forward" i honestly have to say my fav part is deffinetly natsu and the cradle ... i can totally imagine him doing something like that and the dragon on it was a perfect touch and totally natsu ...

when i read a F.F i look for character traits that make sense and you nailed Grays personality in my opinion cause he does like lucy but he wouldnt hold it against either of them forever ... im a huge fan of lucyxloke just based on the face that no matter how many times someone asks her if she and loke are going out or if she likes him she never denies it ....

lol i have always imagined pices as going to be the most useless spirit just looking at my dad lol ... and i was kinda hoping he was like magikarp (pokemon) ... or an even bigger palyboy than loke ... either one would be hilarious...

Libra and knowing weight omg genious lol i imagine her in a greek toga holding a scale and being able to stop time not sure why but i do

Haha, sorry about the mature parts. I actually began this story as a PWP and didn't plan on it being multi-chapter until I got so many requests. I didn't want to put in too many love scenes, but then some readers were begging for more romance.

Okay, I had to dig this up, but this was Hiro Mashima's concept art for the Zodiacs, originally meant for another story that he never got to do (not yet, at least). Gemini is there, Taurus is familiar, Cancer... dude AFRO! And there's Libra. Sagittarius is awesome, wish he was like that in Fairy Tail... [link]

Thanks for reading it. I'm having WAY too much fun working on that story. Sorry if it's getting long-ish, there are just so many cute scenes, sexy scenes, funny scenes, and "omg Rhov what the hell did you do to them this time" scenes. Or at least, that's the response I usually give to myself as I write the angsty parts. XD
