The Metempsychosis can freely mold and reform their appearent bodies, which in actuality are fakes created from a goo like substance oozing from their true body often called “ incubator” . These incubators make up the true home to their souls and therefor are a Metempsychosis most priced posession they may never let go off, often taking the form of expensive jewelery or accessorys, the shinier looking the better.

Their size determines the amount power they can use. A big and easily destroyed incubator would give them the ability to change freely into completely different beings and monsters while a smaller, more sturdy incubator restricts these powers greatly. While some are brash, most Metempsychosis prefer the safer route as they are beings of the shadows with limited pools of energy to spend on more draining immense changes.

This creature lives of deceiving others and living right between humans without ever being recognized, retrieving minor amounts of life force little by little just by being around them, causing humans to feel slightly nauseous or depressed. They are pretty much bad weather. Unable to actively harm people unless completely exposing themself, mostly a species living in the unknown. Changing faces quickly or simply appearing as if every person you ever saw. perfectly generic they are hard to spot.
Yet even if seing them face to face as they mimic humans it would always feel just a bit..off. The Uncanny Valley. Just slightly off centered pupils or no eyebrows, weird hairlines, minor details you often only realize once looking away at which point they have long dissapeared.

Backstory/History:

Themis liked Greece. He really did. It was the land he first grew consciousness in and where he grew up, learning all the tricks he used to day.
But it was also a land infested by demon hunters that took their passion way too serious as he felt.
There used to be a lot of his kind in streets in cities but as he grew older he saw the colonies shrink. Less and less ever returned, less formed a new. Themis kind was dying out and he didn't want to die like cattle as well.

There where rumors that there was a place where the demons could still live in peace, demon hunting organizations being sparse and badly organized and Themis had decided to follow these rumors. His kind never had a problem to fit in. It would be a breeze.

At first it went well. He arrived in the promised land of the city New York without further trouble, even got around quickly but after just a few days he had already realized this place was not as rosy as it had been described to him. There was indeed a rather large demon hunting group present and roaming the streets yet he could not deny their numbers where less than europes. Despite it not being the paradise he had hoped for Themis decided to stay. It was better than nothing.

He had an affinity to get into trouble. Always been the case. As a child he fell from trees, nearly lost his incubator, ran straight into hunters or priests but somehow he always escaped. If he didn't have such a dislike for angels, Themis could have said something devine was protecting him.
Even if that protection was sometimes sleeping.
The day he found Castro was one of those days.

Themis had been gambling as he did so often, relying on his luck too much and loosing all he had, owing even greater sums. Those he played against usually did not like it. He could understand why of course but it was annoying none the less. This time was supposed to go as every other, he played , he lost , he ran. He could not run this time.
One of them had spotted the glittering in his pocket and grabbed it. His precious pocket watch, his true soul had been touched by a goons hand and the sensation alone sent shivers down the demons neck. They did not know what it was, thankfully, seeing it as just another way of him paying his debt and tucking at it unknowing every pull made him feel as if his very being was been torn apart.

Running didn't help, pushing didn't help. The men soon threw him into an alley, confused off why the pocket watch didn't want to be removed from his body as they slowly realized the true anomaly of that finding. Themis couldn't do anything but stare. Stare and wait and hope. Waiting for a miracle that was unlikely to ever come.
Until it did.
It wasn't exactly the magical rescue he had hoped for, more like it was a homeless looking lower demon staggering into the alley way but it was all he needed.
The creature had grown horns the moment it hat stepped into the alleys save shadow, slurring insults at the men that had been busy attempting to beat Themis up before. This filthy , drunk was a gift send by heaven, or hell more likely.

Themis didn't really care where it came from but he did care for what it caused. Specifically the man he owed money to to pretty much explode.
It was quick, it was bloody and it was glorious. The Metempsychosis watched with wonder filled, giant eyes as the drunk was taken care off quickly and efficiently yet with an amount of passion he assumed long lost.
Upon his quickly gasped questions Themis had soon be told this many origin. A mafia of sorts, residing in the darkness of the streets , fighting for the fun of it. And bets. That last part especially had sparked his interest.

Soon Themis was back on his feet, scurrying over to the man and begging him to make him a part, asking him to be his underling, personal lackey even in a way to repay his debt and be part of this glory he had witness. Surely a place like this would be way more interesting than seeing the streets alone.
Even if it was also way more dangerous. But Themis didn't care. He always came out on top.
