Right, this is for Endling's contest...bit late in the game but still >D<

The firefey are (obviously) related to fire. All kinds of fire. With their long fingers, they spark the creativity in artists, inflamed lovers with passion, and burned down all those who strayed too far from common sense (that's why your mom told you not to play with fire!).

No one knows when they first came to be. Some dusty historian theorized that they were born from the first spark of Prometheus' flame when he handed it down to mortals. Some say they were born from a lightening struck tree. If the firefey knows, they're keeping it under wraps.

Their natural habitat is in a candle's flame. When there's a blackout, light a candle and maybe you'll see them, a haze hanging around the orange-y part of the candle's wick. As people now all turned to electricity, they are getting rarer and rarer to see.

As the final measure to survive, they took to wearing a face-mask in the last turn of the century to protect their sensitive senses from the cloying smell of aroma-added candles, where they are now reduced to live in.
