Description Hi I would like to give you some ideas of how to get yourself noticed and pump up your pageviews organically without the aid of viewbots and advertising.

YOUR ART
Presentation
First of all it's important to present your work in a way that is clean and professional, the first thing people look at when they look at a piece of art is quality of your work, it's all good that you are taking pictures of your art but there are simple ways to do so without fancy equipment.
-Take a picture of your work outside at mid-day when the sun is at it's highest, the reason for this is that it eliminates shadows from your work, you need light to hit your canvas/pad from all areas, also if you have used materials that reflect light (e.g Graphite) try and move the canvas/pad around slightly so that it removes the reflections.
Now that you have taken a picture of your work find an editing software like Photoshop (don't worry if you cannot afford this, download something from Cnet, softpedia or softonic etc you can find free softwares like Gimp to work with) and then crop your work, after this you can tinker with contrast and brightness to mimic the true colours of your piece.

Submit and share
Now that you have your piece of art to share you can go ahead and submit it, make sure to give a detailed description of your work, title your work something catchy and fill in the hashtags (that will be underneath the description in the submission process) write #paint #art #work #drawing #portrait #artist #acrylics Etc.. the reason for doing this is that when people look through hashtags, they might see your work in the hashtag area in which you are twice as likely to get noticed.

Next, go to 'Groups' (you can find groups on the top of the DA site under 'MORE') and find groups that fit in with your piece [a portrait would go under a group much like this one Portrait-Lovers ].. you can do this as many times as you want, but it does take a long time.

You could as well set up a facebook page for your art [Joe Bloggs art page] and share your art links there but tell people that page exists otherwise there is little point in setting one up

There are other sites to share you art as well such as Reddit, Imgur and newgrounds where you can share your Deviantart page on those sites which would bring you more traffic, but be careful as each sites carry terms and condition of use, such as Reddit, you can post the link to your art on there but only 10% of all your links, try and share other art from other areas of the internet to keep that site active, if you abuse that site you will get shadowbanned (banned without you realising).

Join Chat
You may have overlooked Chat (under 'MORE' by the 'Submit' button) but there are certain chat services that allow you to share your art, one of which is chat.deviantart.com/chat/thumb… THUMBHUB, read the rules before posting as you need to learn some commands and you have to wait a certain time limit before you can post more works, this is helpful but also remember to check out other people's works because when you help those people they are more inclined to help you back because being nice opens doors

Go to the Forums
There are many, many subjects to get involved there, you can help people out or get help for yourself, share works and comment on any thread, from Art related subjects to Religious & Political discussions, get involved there and you might find some people who share similar thoughts to you.

Enter Competitions
This is a great way of getting noticed, enter competitions, ones officially hosted by DeviantArt and ones hosted by individual people or ones in 'Groups' and 'Chat', there are plenty around and there is always something going on in the community, a quick search can give you some results

Art feature Journals
I think it's important to find art in DeviantArt's search and bring them to the open such as an art feature, exposing other people's art helps bring neglected art to the front, but be careful, showing too much art can confuse the eye and cut people's attention by nearly 70% as too much information is an overload (I know it sounds silly but people like things in bite sizes, it's easier to digest)

Browse Art
Make sure you visit other people's art and if you like their work, do click 'Add to favourite' and possibly comment on their work because if you are serious about art, you should be open to learn from other people's art and also it will get you to know new people, people like yourself who are in the same boat as you.

DO NOT TROLL
Like any community, taking the biscuit out of people's believes, personality and their work is not on, just because you don't see their face in real time does not mean that the other person doesn't feel any emotions, on DeviantArt you have people from all walks of life, young and old, different stages of their work and putting people's art down especially at an early stage of their artistic endeavours can put them off of creating art, we are all learning here some people are good and some people are not so good and what some people don't realise is that those who draw good were once bad at drawing, so please take a step back before you comment because it could one day haunt you, (plus if you behave you are more likely to build connections, friends, people to talk to) be careful not to annoy people either, people like their spaces and don't spam your work on popular pages.

So in order to get noticed it helps that you get involved with the community, DA is a great place because it has a lot to offer, good luck to you all

Er, I don't know. . . nobody here appreciates Star Wars these days, at least not outside of the Star Wars fan groups.

I primarily draw fan art, and I don't want to branch out and do generic art because then nobody will understand it. I'm just afraid to put all of myself out there because every time I do, I get hurt and I don't want to anymore.

oh Β
It's not about they don't like star war. When the movie still in the theater, many fan art of star war on the front page.

Maybe add more lighting and depth into your art. Don't abuse blur much ><
You can find more constructive comment in some groups.
Good luck

"There is this guy who's always been unpopular, and one day he decides to pray to God that he could get a lot of feedback. He prays and prays, but doesn't get any. Every day, he prays to God that he could Deviant of the Day, and it never happens.

One day, when he's very old and frustrated, he gets on his knees and says, "Look, God. This is the last time I'm going to pray. PLEASE let me get this feedback, or at least tell me why you aren't letting me win."

Suddenly, an angel appears before the man and says, "Look, sir, could you do God a favor and at least SUBMIT AN ARTWORK?!"

wow 2 years? seems just like yesterday that i signed up. Well, i've gone through several phases of art growth, development and mediums. Tons of research on anatomy, movement, physics, color theory and various mediums. I think I have found the perfect fit for me which is 3d sculpting. It comes/feels natural and am really enjoying the process. I am using Blende because its free and surprisingly not that hard to use. Here is my most recent sculpt.Β
