Description Worked a bit more on it over the past few days.

Added some characters; it's meant to be the opening scene from an RPG type game where these night-creatures inhabit the world etc.

Take care

Maybe you could teach me a few spriting techniques? I really need to improve on my character designs. Great use of lighting and it'll be interesting to see those monsters get beaten up by an "innocent" little kid. Classic.

Now that's a useful tutorial!

Pity it didn't help me much though... Guess I'm stuck with the standard 2D scrolling platforming type games. I hate Isometric!

what I do is to draw a 2D graffiti and then I use Stretch/Skew tool
do you have other way to do it?

It's been almost 2 months since you've submitted this piece and yet I've saved it in my devWATCH specifically to come back and leave a well thought-out comment on it. I suppose it's better late than never.

I'll admit that the first thing that caught my eye from this pixel art was the overall darkness you gave it. I've seen detailed buildings before, well laid out isometric scenes and great pixel art objects (some of which have been from you of course), but you've really taken this one to another level by simply coloring only a section and leaving the rest to lie in a grayscale darkness. That alone got my attention.

I'm also a big fan of your light-to-dark transition. I believe you did a pretty good job of making the scene make sense and not seem like something was missing. The monster characters you have hiding in the dark are great as well, though I'm wondering if they shouldn't be a little bit larger (bigger equals scarier I would think). Also, while I understand why you colored them in, I almost think they stand out a little too much. Perhaps they should be either completly grayscale like the rest of the darkness, or maybe their color should be dulled down a bit? Just my two cents of course.

Overall this is one of the better pixel art pieces I've seen in some time. It adds a bit of originality, something we haven't seen much of (though I'm still completely blown away by some of the great isometric work I see around these parts). Great work, as always, and I'm looking forward to whatever you have in store for us next.

The contrast of colour between the light and the dark fits the scene perfectly.
