So I saw Nolan's The Dark Knight a few days ago and it, as all Batman related things do, made me want to do one thing and one thing only. Draw Harley Quinn. I grew up on the old Batman cartoon of the 90s, and Batman Beyond after that, and like every pre-goth-phase little kid, I wanted to be Harley Quinn.

I wanted to have fun and design a Dark Knight style Harley Quinn, with a costume that was more compatible with the style of the movies, so I decided to turn her costume into a jacket and pants and give her streaky pigtails. Like the Joker, she's a little scruffier and dirtier and her hair is kinda gross and dirty.

The way I see it, Harley in the movie would be kind of Misa Misa to the Joker's Light Yagami, only a little nuttier and more capable. She's a psychologist who sees the Joker's crazy "social experiments" and is utterly fascinated by his ability to totally spin things on its ear and push human limits, as are many in Gotham City. She's one of many copycat jokers, only she's talented enough to gain his dubious attentions and loyal enough not to get pushed away.

I guess "Bang" would be kind of her "Why so serious?"

I decided to try my old methods of photoshop drawing. A shit ton of layers and lots of smudging. I'm not totally disgusted by the result.
