Description My first "big print" for my Intaglio class, not a test plate. It's a dry point.

I think by then I'd established myself in class as "That Crazy Steampunk Girl" but I really wanted to incorporate the idea of using printmaking as an illustrative device, and therefor I wanted a narrative. So I made up a little fairytale for myself. And with that narrative, I wanted to go with certain aesthetics that went for me. So a little more steampunk aesthetic for you

Hey, nothin' wrong with steampunk.

I love this picture. It reminds me of an old series of books I read growing up - one of them dealt with a clockwork boy and a sandlewood doll who came to life when the clock struck thirteen. I dunno, this just has the same wistful quality I remember from those books.

Is the fact that she's chained to the clock part of the fairytale that grew up around it?

Yes, on the fairytale bit. There's a threatening face in the clock's framework, or at least there's supposed to be.

Ookay, I was so intent on the doll and the clock's face that I totally missed the face in the framework. *is a dork*
