I'm well aware that I have thousands of characters and should probably stop creating them but somehow I just can't. ;u; When I get the inspiration to make one, I just have to do it! And that's how this lady came about. Well, her and her erstwhile partner who I've yet to draw.So this is Michaela Yewen, a competition swordsman meaning she practices swordplay for the purpose of winning duels, jousts and tournaments. Because of this, she (and all other competition swordsmen) get looked down upon for being too "flashy" or having no sense of honour. She's jolly and very casual with people but has a quiet sense of arrogance, never out right mentioned but clearly in her character. She believes without confidence you don't live up to your potential. Rarely angry or sad though when the former she has a low tolerance for mistakes, betrayal... the whole lot, really. Despite appearing the way she does codes of honour still matter. Probably due to her noble/rich upbringing... sadly her family went bankrupt after a series of unfortunate circumstances and she's now... someone who seeks money rather than has it.
She is 23 while her gunman partner (who I'll draw soon) Yuri is 26. Yuri also calls her "Mickey". They're very close but more like bros 'specially considering Yuri has a girlfriend. Oh! And in case it can't be seen... her hair is braided back - a bit of it, anyway. It goes into this small ponytail that is there but doesn't affect her hairstyle very much. I wanted to draw her hair at an angle to show this but I wanted to get this finished first as reference. ^u^; I'll probably do a couple of comics of the two in action sometime, that's what I've been doing with a lot of my characters lately, putting them in small comics.
The pose turned out alright but I'm not happy with a couple of things... oh well, it's done now and I still have a ton of other pictures to do! XD Can't be disappointed for too long, right?

Awww, thank you so much! Yeah, I spent a lot of time on the pose even though I can see so many mistakes with it now. ;w; Ah well we live and we learn I guess.

I guess so.xD Yeah, I think we're predisposed to be harsh to our own stuff no matter how proud we were of it before.
Me especially since I tend to compare my stuff to other peoples' even though that's such a bad habit for an artist.XDD;;;

Wow, she really looks the way her personality is! She really does look fancy with an arrogant air around her, and she more than looks the part of a competition swordsman!
I love the outfit - it's feminine and fancy while still being practical!
I like the colours (the pink admist the blue skirt), it's all clean and simple, and suits her well.
The background's also nice, and I find in interesting and kinda good, the way you put the whole right side of her in shadows.

Aww, thank you! Hearing that makes me so happy! I really enjoy being able to portray a character's personality through the picture. And I spent a lot of time trying to make her outfit that of a competition swordsman - practical and yet fancy with an air of rich/class to it.
Yes, yes! Exactly that! God, thank you so much, so glad that comes through. Haha, I like doing that for nice shading - usually I'm more subtle but I decided to go darker this time. I thought the background was a bit lazy but I'm happy you like it!

Ironically at first she was all red but blue suited her more 'cause of her partner's colouring.xDDD I guess blue just has some femininity about it.

Currently she's like... well, a free-agent character, I guess.XD So she has no story of her own but she does exist in my world. The reason she's not in one yet is because she's really not the main character type so a story wouldn't be suited to her. I have quite a few characters who exist with possibilities of like, side-stories and the like because I like the character and they have potential but I have no real place for them currently.

Just characters.xDD Even the ones without stories still have certain plots and live in worlds so it's not like they're as blank as roleplay characters. On the other hand, my roleplay characters tend to be on the flexible side so they can develop in roleplays, you know? C:

I think it's still supposed to be titled "Breaking News" and it a realistic/historical fiction novel over the time of the Vietnam war and Nixon scandal. The main character is a student at a high school whose interested in journalism and her curiosity and need for the truth gets her stuck into a mess. Sorry if that's a crappy/tacky summary. It really is much better than I make it sound.
