got the itch to update the Shadow Sirens’ designs. really wanted to give them outfits that were cute but not too complicated to fit in with the Mario universe. while i was at it, as an addition to my redesigns, i was obsessed with the idea of what they might look like with their hats off and their hair out of their faces
i wanna ramble a bit about the design choices i made

for Beldam:
-she’s like a 1000 year old woman who’s cruel, so she gets gangly fingers and a somewhat ragged dress. plus raggedy old hair
-blue ribbon addition on her dress as juxtaposition for how mean she is, plus it balances out her color scheme some
-i gave her creepy and intense greenish-yellow eyes. her eyes are the total opposite of her sisters’ more gentle and friendly ones.
-her whole design is meant to be very sharp and pointy to represent her unpleasant nature

for Marilyn:
-in my mind, she’s more androgynous compared to her sisters. so I decided to give her a dress shirt and tie
-she gets cute little hair clips. she would look fine without them too, but then I’d wonder how she’d keep her long bangs out of her eyes. so they’re there!
-she’s got sweet, tired eyes. i think of her as a very gentle and kind-hearted character who unfortunately is pressed very closely under Beldam’s thumb. she’s always busy because of her, and doesn’t get much sleep as a result
-she’s got little hair fwips for her silhouette, and also because they’re adorable

for Vivian:
-what’s the girliest outfit i can come up with that i haven’t seen drawn on her already? a dress made of frills of course. plus a cutesy collar
-the yellow heart pendant/button thing almost wasn’t gonna be a part of the design, but i just like it too much. it gives her outfit a little extra something
-her’s and marilyn’s eyes are too cute for this world
-her hair was so much fun to figure out under her hat; its kept up by the big pink ribbon she wears. she’s also got an adorable hair swirl flyaway that i MUST keep, even tho her head silhouette would look fine without it

last thing, i colored their gloves solely for the fact that i wanted Marilyn’s glove color to be different from her white shirt. so instead of them having white gloves, i gave all of them colored gloves c:
